Illinois gets so many coaches fired
It's a bit of a cop out to fire the OC. Their issues go far beyond this year. They lost that game yesterday due to penalties on both sides. That's a discipline issue and that starts and ends with the head coach. That was a $55M(or whatever the buyout is) decision, to appease the fans, by having someone's head roll.Illinois gets so many coaches fired
fire the hitting coach , and if that doesn’t work , fire the locker room attendant & laundry guy

Tim Lester better watch out! Last two visiting OCs got canned after games at Gies.Illinois gets so many coaches fired
Totally agree. I was paying attention to their clock management in the 4th Q as we were essentially trying to bleed the clock as much as possible when we had the ball. There were a handful of times where their coaching was just terrible in that respect. I remember one instance when the clock was running, the prior play was less than 10 yards (so not long for the players to get to the line), they didn't sub so no waiting for us to sub, and they didn't snap the ball until about 2 secs left on the play clock. That's 20-30 seconds wasted on one play. Another time, again with the clock running, they let the play clock get below 20 before deciding they needed to call a timeout. They easily wasted over 60 seconds of time on the game clock cumulatively in the 4th Q just by terrible clock management. IMO that's on Rhule and no one else. Of course, he's not going to fire himself so he's gotta find a scapegoat to placate the masses and the AD.It's a bit of a cop out to fire the OC. Their issues go far beyond this year.
