How does Butch Jones still have a job?

He was able to pull in some really good classes which helped cover up the fact that he isn't a good coach. Also they had a ton of injuries last year so some were willing to give him a semi-pass considering they still had a pretty decent year.

That said, he won't have a job very soon.

Yep. When we couldn't bring Campbell along with Beckman, I remember several people mentioning even then that this was going to bite us in the ***.

Man, I still look back at that Beckman hire with anger. Even at the time, I thought it was a terrible hire. Anyway......

It's almost like hiring barely succesful MAC coaches isn't a great move for a Big Five program...

So should we conclude Mike Riley and Bielema willl get fired too? Sumlin? I don’t think we’ll see any other Big Ten jobs come open. I don’t think Frost leaves the state of Florida. Bielema to Nebraska?

Mike Riley is fired for sure. Scott Frost to Nebraska.

I think Bielema is probably gone, too, though he is very well-liked down there.

I think Sumlin will hang on if they can win at least one of their next two. Otherwise, a 6-6 finish puts him in danger.

Todd Graham at Arizona State is probably on the hot seat. He's on the verge of a third consecutive losing season.

Jim Mora Jr. is on thin ice at UCLA, too.

Lovie at #7 on that list? Lovies seat isn't that hot just yet. He's going to get the time he needs.

Yeah whoever wrote that is a moron. Lovies seat can’t isn’t gonna be hot for 2-3 years. Anyone who knows what’s going on understands the nature of the rebuild. He’s going to get to turn at least one class over.

one has to wonder what Butch could have done in C-U if he had taken Mike Thomas' offer and come here. The Big 10 is a bit easier to compete in than the SEC. Expectations in Knoxville are winning the SEC East every 2-3 years and beating Alabama and Georgia with some type of regularity.

The Vols (like Florida and Nebraska) look outright BAD.

Bielema has to be the next high profile coach to go.

I think BB's buyout at Ark is pretty hefty, something like $12mil, so he might get another yr just on that basis alone.

Lovie honestly probably gets as long as he says he wants. We don’t have any other good options. If he doesn’t get it turned around , the job is radioactive.

You say that like it wasn't already a steaming pile. We went from bad to awful and stayed there for half a decade. If Lovie fails here it wont be some sort of huge shock. Quality coaches go into bad situations all the time and can't do anything about them. No different here.

Ron Zook 2.0 is what we would have enjoyed if Butch Jones was here. Great recruiter, but a poor coach.

We dont? Chip Kelly would be dumb not taking the UoI job, if offered.
