Agree. Brad is what, 57? Just spent the last 4 years building a juggernaut. Not sure why he would want to start right back over again. If this happens in 10 years after (hopefully) a National championship or 2, I could see one last challenge/vanity project but not right now.They would have to pony up some money. Maybe Brad really does want to go home but I doubt it. Don't think he wants to take on a rebuild at this point in his career when he has things rolling here and recruiting buzz is at an all time high(even if some of it isn't publicly known) Also have to think Whitman won't be outbid by K state and that he will restructure Brads current deal to increase the buyout even more and give him another raise.

All excellent points. Hard to see a coach leave a team who is poised to still be a B1G contending team next year, with the resources/AD we have, and at his age. Regardless of if it's his home, KSU is in bad shape. It would be just as, if not more, of a monumental task to dig KSU out as it was us.They would have to pony up some money. Brad should see a nice raise here after the season. I'd anticipate an astronomical buy out accompanies it. Hard to fathom KSU having the funds to top us, especially considering the COVID impacts.
As others have said Frank Martin seems like the ideal re-marriage candidate, if they so choose.

Because he's from Kansas and a KState alum. However, many coaches have spurned their alma maters for higher profile jobs.

Where you thinking? I wonder how picky he can be. He’s not tied to one region. Pretty much been from coast to coast.
Though he could probably do better, Boston College is interesting (return to ACC) because his wife is a senior associate AD there. I’ve heard DePaul might have interest. Again, probably better jobs, but return to Chicago, now has experience at urban school, and they have a strong recruiting class coming in.

I used to lurk on some KSU boards back in the early 2010s for a bit (born in Manhattan and still have a soft spot for the Wildcats) and their fanbase has been clamoring for Underwood since 2012. I remember people over there being so mad they hired Weber over him.
It's why when he was announced as our new coach, I was so hyped up since KSU's message board hype had already put him on my radar.

Yup, good example of this is T Boone Pickens trying to lure Self to OSU for what seems like forever.
Yes, and one K State alum was actually coaching there and left his alma mater for what was then (hard to believe now) a lesser, though promising program.
Tim Jankovich might be a possibility for K-State too. He played there and has done well at SMU but might want to jump up in conferences.

Most of my elementary school friends went to Whitney Young, and Dennis Gates was a really fun player to watch at that time. Quentin Richardson and Cordell Henry got more attention, but Cal got a great glue guy in Gates. He was always cerebral. I am rooting for him to be a big time coach.

I can remember those coaching changes grades and Archie Miller being an A for Indiana and Underwood a little behind. So glad to see how it's turned out. You can't lose to Purdue as much as Miller did and keep that job.
