Now in about an hour after this ^post, one thing was clear with everyone’s answers. And thank you everyone for your responses. Quite, eggcellent.

The common correlation between most all coaches that left: Illinois had damn good players, because we had damn good coaching staffs.

I don’t care how long it takes. Get me a coach where every couple seasons we might need to replace them (ACs leaving for HC, hopefully?!) or bid to keep them (AC lateral moves). It will mean the 20’s belong to the Illini.

But he also still lives in the same house he owned 30 yrs ago and drives a Toyota Camry. I just don't see Warren as the kind of guy who throws money at a college sports team to hire coaches.

I think they are all egg-sell-ent.

I have only one comment to add.

It is great for an AC to have lots of Self-confidence but I don't want any egg-omaniacs on the staff.

Agreed. I had a high school Coach, Coach Holland. He was loyal to the program through and through. He was offered NBA coaching jobs and was even offered the Duke job where Coach K was going to stay on as Assistant Coach. He stayed true and never left. My hope is that U of I has some of those Holland Days ahead!

Just curious when you heard this? Late last week and over the weekend I was told for sure he was gone. Since Monday he has been reconsidering and is still at that point of reconsidering as of today. Unless you heard something very recent, its 50/50.

Sounds like our board when OA went from definitely gone, to not so fast, then ended up gone anyway. Let’s hope for the same result here 🤞
