Well than what's the problem(not being sacastic at all) are we trying to get ones off BU list first and then go after the ones that actually called about openings, I'm actually asking for me not a friend
I think with any hire of this sort, you start out with the absolute best you can imagine, even if its a long shot, then work your way down. Eventually you will arrive at the best you can get.
Don't just hire the first person you know will say yes. You could be missing a big opportunity.

Is no one going to acknowledge that LSU may be the most corrupt college program in the country right now?!!! I mean, besides me!

I think it's safe to say that pretty much every major basketball (and football) program in the NCAA works to find every loophole, grey area, and way to circumvent the rules to gain competitive advantage. That much is clear from all of the stuff going on the last few years. I am sure different schools do it to different degrees and some are better at it than others, but at this point I just assume everyone does it. There is too much money at stake.

Ideally, some of those people would be the same. It seems, though, that the circle of coaches Underwood wants to hire and the circle of coaches who want the job isn't intersecting. Kinda like the Wu Tang Clan Venn diagram.

I just think Will Wade is particularly unconcerned with being labeled a cheater. Props to him.

Do any of them really care about being labeled as a cheater by anyone other than law enforcement or the NCAA? Fans can and will whine about anything and everything with a rival or (perceived) lesser program out-performs them. That has no bearing on Will Wade's livelihood. If anything, it probably means he is doing things that are causing him to be more successful... right up until he gets proven to be a cheater and loses a job (or worse).

In Wade's case it seems as though it has been proven, and not one F is given by the NCAA.

Kelvin Sampson seems to not care. Whatever mindset you need to succeed, I guess.

I am not arguing it's an ethical way to go about your life, but I do just assume most do it to some degree. It's only the degree and brazenness that differs.

Oh for sure. My favorite part is Sampson getting caught for the same thing, going to the NBA to wait it out, then coming back and it's like he's never cheated. I hate that the fans don't care and I hate that they are essentially rewarded for cheating and moving past it.

I say lets just go get Myers Leonard to be the last AC... He is free and maybe done in NBA. Loves the U of I. He knows what a center needs to do to be successful in the league and kids know him. Win win...../s

I know big time college recruiting is a dirty business, but I find this point of view disappointing. I still hope there are people that employ some ethics in their jobs, even recruiting. Pardon me for cursing the darkness. ☺️

I wonder is we could pry any other AHC’s from the Big East…

Maybe Kyle Neptune would be interested in making a change? Been at Villanova for 8 years now, although he doesn’t seem to have any Midwest connections.

Or perhaps TJ Cleveland from SJU? Again, no Midwest connections but both of these guys seem to be quality guys.

The AC situation at Illinois defies conventional organizational thinking. Illinois basketball is a very good brand (though not Kentucky level). Underwood and Whitman are said to be well-liked professionally and good to work for/with. We are reportedly offering extremely competitive compensation. The program is in the midst of a highly productive period. From an organizational standpoint, we should be very attractive right now. We're ticking all the boxes. So why is our current staff all leaving, and why are we having trouble attracting our top prospective replacements?
I speculate that this may not be entirely true, particularly as it relates to BU...
