I think it is obvious by now that money is not everything to the coaches. Chin, OA and CY made a mistake not accepting offers to coach at Illinois. Eugene, Lexington, Tallahassee, Spokane, etc. are not Champaign.

Tuscaloosa I would say is worst than Champaign (ie Chicago and St Louis vicinity). I learned a long time ago that it is not the landscape that matters ...
but rather the culture, excitement and positive environment that makes the difference. In summary stay positive and exciting and we will be more than good....!

Can someone give an overall update with legitimate sources on CY and Menennga.

I'm too busy to read through it all and try to decipher.

They both out, in, or otherwise?

Have been to all those places and other than Eugene I would prefer Champaign.

There's way too much worrying about this outstanding coaching vacancy, imo. I like the staff that we have and how they can mold the current roster. Everyone should give the new hire a chance to prove themselves.

My guess (and I know nothing) is that they positions are viewed as different skill sets. BU is looking for a top recruiter to replace OA. Alexander, though thought to be capable of recruiting, would be brought in to replace the skills that Gentry is best known for. JHWAO.
I think Alexander will be at least as good as Chin at recruiting.

I understand the thought. Also, I don't think that we wanted to be without 2 ACs very long. Since Gentry was being announced, almost simultaneously, I am less worried about the timing. From all accounts, this should be a solid replacement for someone that brought value to the team.
Agreed. I think this was a strategic move to counter the Gentry departure. It gives BU time to finalize his second big hire. Hopefully soon.

Tell me, how would fixing this "character flaw" prevent Kentucky (the all-time winningest program) and Gonzaga (maybe the winningest program over the last 20 years) from recruiting your coaches?

If it gets us more #1 seeds, I'd say get more "character flaws."
The character flaw statement had no proven merit. Plain and simple, the timing was awful, but here are two guys returning to former locations and one trying to make a huge jump (on Ayo's tail).

I would take Jamall back in a heartbeat. He is a good X and O's guy who really started the change in the defensive philosophy and he understands the recruiting game as well. Gentry would have to be gone for this to even be considered though.

Well, Gentry is finally gone and the mystery plane is headed to Scottsdale tomorrow...is it Jamall Walker time now?
