BU I know you’re out there!!! I’m ready for the next grand slam hire to be announced.

What if it's just a triple off the wall..... and we fart and fall down rounding second base?

Shoulda farted in the catcher's face to throw him off and get it out of your system before you run the bases. Rookie mistake.

Started his slide a little too soon....if talented enough one can still recover and get there safely

Looks like Brad Stevens is no longer an option /s
Actually, this is setting up perfectly for him to take over as IUs coach in the near future. IU would have had him this time but for the midseason issue. But now that he's in the front office he'll be able to pack up and leave anytime.

Mark my words.

What do these statements even mean?

I don't believe guys are evaluated in the lens of, this guy is going to make a mild impact and slow turnaround vs this guy is gonna be high impact fast turnaround. You simply choose from what you think are the best guys available that fit your coaching/recruiting philosophy and always with the expectation that you will be able to turn it around and compete quickly. You don't consider anything less than that.

What long game is there to play and what is our position of strength? Especially now that players can transfer at will, expect to see lots of departures with even minor coaching staff changes (not saying that this will necessarily happen to us). However, these nebulous ideas are the types of things that can destroy you. It's a cutthroat arms race and a tactical challenge, and you need to bring it every single year if you want to compete for championships.

In hindsight, I think one can reasonably argue that BU struck gold in assembling the previous staff, and the final payoff was a ranking and seeding that we could have only dreamed about. BU's hyperbole scares me because of how high the bar has been set, and he has a lot of pressure on him to assemble anything worthy of the previous staff.
I never looked at Antigua as a long term assistant for Illinois. To me, he was just a hired gun. Come in, bring some good recruits and leave. I thought he would go to Kansas, just because Self loves to stick it to Illinois or he would rehabilitate his rep and get another head coaching position. The move to Kentucky did surprise me, but it will be easier to bring some high level recruits to Lexington and then he can leverage that into another head coach job.
