Seems like a great negotiating position for RW. We’ll pay him, but Alabama would elevate his exposure. Bama would give him eyes from coast to coast. Here at ILL, the relationships matter but there, exposure matters. Personally, I think BB is a very smart dude and actively elevates RW. BB wants you to be a sponge, learn and take the reins. Saban expects execution. At Alabama, you lose a tight SEC game and the gig is up.

They have poked around on Walters. They haven’t gotten rid of Golding yet. Nor isn’t even a sure thing that they will. Also George McDonald and WMU have interest. Don’t know how high up the candidate lost he is for them though.
If Walters goes to another school would BB go after Jim Leohnard if he isn’t gone to another gig.

I'm confused, you responded to folks right after that initial message talking about how top coordinators never turn down P5 head coach opportunities.
Because they asked about Colorado. And if he was offered he would take it. But they were still waiting for Deion and ultimately got him.
Deion could sell ice to an eskimo but that Colorado fit is really strange I can't believe thats what he jumped at.

Just look at the Saban coaching tree and some of the coaching gigs Bama coordinators have gotten. I hate to say it but it's kind of a no-brainer if RW wants to maximize his chance at getting not only a HC gig but a good HC gig.
Deion is getting the Colorado job. Walters was the number 2. I highly doubt he goes there to be a DC.

him leaving the Illinois DC job with what hes built the last two years and the friendships hes made , to work for Deion in a lateral move makes no sense whatsoever.
