Kiffin seems pretty confident it’s his …

One of the coaches I am closer with than others … Go way back with Lane …
Kiffin wouldn't be that high on my list. Yes he's got some history at the school and he's going to have access to top talent at every position. But he took over a Cadillac at USC too and was fired in less than 4 seasons. We can assume he's learned something in the last decade, but Alabama fans aren't going to accept any 8-5 seasons.

I mean gees, Saban has lost more than 2 games only twice in his entire tenure at Alabama (17 years), once if you give him a pass for his first season.

I'd probably got with Lanning. Georgia grabbed Alabama's DC and built a monster, I'd see if I can keep my monster going by taking an ex-Georgia DC.

Freeman doesn't belong on this list. Surprised Sark isn't getting consideration
Probably because it will be significantly easier and cheaper to get Lanning or Kiffin. The gap between Alabama and Texas is significantly smaller than Oregon, and I don't think Bama really needs to bother with a bidding war against Texas

Dabo isn’t even in the top 3 choices …

Lanning, Kiffin, Freeman …
I’d take Dabo over Kiffin and Freeman. Lanning as 1st choice.
Dabo is a former player, he’s a proven champion, he’s been loyal to Clemson, and he sees the gap widening between Sec and ACC. Sure, he needs to adapt to the cfb evolution of NIL and the portal, but if he did, he’d be a home run hire for Bsma.

Rittenberg's list of top candidates to replace Saban:

-Lane Kiffin
-Dabo
-Dan Lanning
-Kalen DeBoer
-Mike Norvell
-Steve Sarkisian
-James Franklin

For those who will inevitably ask, he lists Franklin because he thinks that Franklin may view Alabama as a program that can more easily compete at the national level than what he has now at Penn State, which is a bit more down in the college football pecking order.

Franklin would be outstanding fit. I'll stick with Kiffin. Amazing job at Ole Miss and they are reeling in top talent and winning 10 games!

Can't see Bama having any interest in Franklin. His coaching is always suspect in big games
Good take. But Franklin is a phenomenal recruiter and leader. If you look at Bama, Clemson, the top programs of last 5 to 10 years. When their assistants get poached, they struggle. Case in point Bama and Clemson, with some amazing assistant coaches moving on. Franklin would have a Brinks truck of NIL at his disposal and assistants galore at Alabama! It is Bama.

Did you just say Bama struggles when their assistants get poached?

He has also already proven he can win at an SEC program and the one he did win at was a traditional bottom feeder school in that conference.

I can think of at least 20-30 coaches I’d take before Dabo …

And it’s not just a personal thing … Many people in CFB share my same thoughts …

Sorry, but c’mon man. If there are 20-30 coaches you’d take ahead of Dabo, then I think it might be personal. Like I said, he needs to adapt to cfb changes or he won’t survive in the new era. If he’s willing to swallow his pride and accept that he has to change his approach to NIL and transfer portal, then he will be fine.
He won national championships in 2016 and 2018 and he has been to six playoffs in the past nine seasons. Kiffin’s doing good things at Ole Miss, but his head coaching track record doesn’t even sniff Dabo’s success. Like him or not, that’s a fact.
