Speaking from experience, either of those are significant upgrades over rural S.D.

And aside from the likes of Panama City, the Gulf region has its charms.
Yep, as does the entire gulf coast of Florida. IMO, for me, the less that like it and more that want to make fun of it, the better. Unfortunately, prices along the gulf just continue to escalate to ridiculous levels.

To think that the equivalent of this happened just a few years ago:
"Brett Bielema announces that in addition to his role as Head Coach, he will now also be the Defensive Coordinator. Coach Bielema also announces the addition of his daughter, Briella Bielema, as Linebackers Coach."
Is her name really Briella? I really want it to be.

I traveled this country on business for 30 years and had the pleasure of visiting 49 states over that period, including Alabama. Only state I haven't been to is West Virginia.

I traveled for two different careers, one took me to very rural areas of the country and the other took me mostly to large urban areas. Places like Paris TX, Hibbing MN, Roanke, VA, Bar Harbor ME, Lincoln CA, Las Vegas NM to name a few of the smaller communities. Also, traveled a bit of Canada as well. Oh, and I did spend 6 months at Chanute AFB just outside of Champaign Urbana.
You really must visit West Virginia at some point. It’s a beautiful state, spoiled only by its inhabitants.

No one has better PR than Kiffin

- He's never won a P5 conference championship (9 years in P5 and three different institutions)
- 2-12 career in regular season against teams ranked in the top-10 (for comparison, DeBoer went 3-1 this season against top-10 teams)
- His last win against a top-5 team? 13 years ago
- 5-25 in regular season against teams that finish the season in the top 25.
4 10+ win seasons at FAU & Ole Miss seems pretty darn impressive.

The 9 yr stat is silly, 5 of those years were rebuilds. USC was even ineligible to play in the champ game b/c of Pete Carroll 2 of them.

I think DeBoer is getting while the getting is good. His style would struggle in the B10, it's sure gonna struggle in the SEC.

From his bio on FightingIllini.com:
"He and his wife, Jen, have two daughters, Briella Nicole and Brexli Nichole."
Fun Name Facts: (and please don't stalk me as I am giving away my full name identity here....!)

My wife and I gave our son my name as his middle name, Ryan. Then we adopted a 7 year old boy when my biological son was 9, and my bio son wanted to give my new son the same middle name as him, so both my kids have the same middle name, though we did spell it the same. (my youngest son was adopted from China and we left his "first" name the same and gave him a new middle name.)

This is true, but there are some parts of the Southeast I'd rather live in than others.

Atlanta, B-ham, NOLA, sure. Valdosta, Mobile, or Biloxi? Eh.

My last name is Brittenham and my nickname has been B-ham for a long time. A friend of mine randomly saw a shirt online that had the letter B and a picture of a Ham....then in small print below it, it said Birmingham, AL. In the next year or so after learning this, we went south for vacation and swung by Birmingham to find one of these shirts. A small business is who makes these shirts and they are only sold in 1 or 2 shops in the city, so we tracked one down and my son and I each got one.

ANYWAY, back to coaching carousel!

My wife and her sisters each have the same middle name. It has no family history or significance. First names are all different but the same first letter as the middle name. Guess my in-laws were big fans of alliteration.

was headed there for a meeting in Parson WV, got as far as Dallas and was told a flood had hit the area and my meeting was canceled. Turned around and went back to PDX. I did fly over WV once at about 10000 feet, it's beautiful country.

I believe adoption is one of the greatest things any human can do in this world. Congrats, and thanks for sharing your story!

I would much rather live in Alabama than Washington any day.
Washington is awesome. Long summer days doesn’t get dark until 10 in summer. No real humidity and hiking. Their rain is mostly a mist

Huntsville I heard has really good schools due to the rocket scientist that live there and has good weather

The Midwest is good but the rest of the country is good just depends on what you want. Illinois doesn’t have beaches or mountains

Glad they hired him. Think he'd do well in the BIG although he would need to make some changes. For some reason, I think he'll struggle at Bama. What's the saying --never follow a legend? I mean, for that kind of money, follow a legend! But most of the time, it's true. He's certainly inheriting an insane amount of talent, but he also has insane expectations from those fans.

You saw what happened to his QBs when he was OC at IU. You saw what his Moore award winning line looked like against UM's line. It wouldn't just be minor changes & there's no Penix replacement in the wings.

Might as well cash in and try your hand at a top 3 job in the game. Worst case scenario he's fired in 3 years with generational wealth.
