In the last 20 years Ole Miss has finished over .500 14 times in the hardest conference in college football…..we’ve done it 4 times….and that’s being in the west since 2014….

While I think everything else you’ve said makes sense as to why a coach would choose Ole Miss over Illinois, I’m confused about where this information is common from. If I’m reading this site right: https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/mississippi/index.html, Ole Miss only has 9 winning seasons their last 20. And to claim it was in the hardest conference is a tad misleading. They only had 5 winning conference records in the past 20 years, so their wins aren’t because they’re dominating the conference.

That said… I still wouldn’t compare our last 20 years to Ole Miss’ last 20 years… 😬

I meant to say 23 years from 2000 to now that’s my bad 🤦🏻‍♂️

So to catch up on the staff movement.
-still looking to replace Buh
-need to replace McDonald
-could be more changes yet to come?

1. Yes ... From everything I have gathered on where this hire is headed ... Shouldn't have fired Buh, to begin with ... I personally didn't like it when it first happened and I like it even less now ...

Fenelus needed to go ... And we upgraded there in terms of coaching and recruiting ...

2. Likely ... Bret is making a push but I don't think it'll be enough ...

3. Couple of our guys are in the top 2 for other jobs ... Just depends on how it shakes out ...

Getting rid of buh never made sense. Very good coach with national recruiting ties. Everyone wants John holecek but they wouldn’t be an improvement

I assume the answer to my question is that you can't share, but can you provide any insight into the thinking or driving factors that lead to Buh being dismissed in the first place? Most of us thought it was a head-scratcher from the beginning given the points noted ever since it happened. Other than the LBs not lighting the world on fire last year, anything else you can share as far as Bret's thinking? Did he think he had a homerun replacement already lined up that then fell through? Something else? TIA for any info you can share and understand if you can't share anything.

I still don’t understand why buh was let go myself. And it appears to be an obvious upgrade with gibbs replacing fenelus, but did giving gibbs the associate head coach title cause some issues with current coaches on staff? Or this just strictly guys getting promotions and/or offered jobs at higher profile schools like McDonald did yesterday?

George already had the assistant HC title and J-Mo has the Co-DC title.

to me , the only valid reason for firing Buh is
a. it was a personal or professional difference of opinion that was not fixable
b. Bret has someone home run hire lined up that could not be announced yet

it’s a tough action to understand , at this point .

Someone on Belichick's staff that maybe stayed with the Pat's?
That's my guess, someone from his Pats/Giants time that either decided to stay or with all the recent movement wants to see where they end up in the NFL before coming to CU. Bret probably thought it was more of a sure thing. Maybe a Joe Judge because being a complete ahole and backing out after giving your word sounds like something he'd do to a former assistant coach.

Disclaimer: I know nothing and overthink things

Thats true. I just didn’t know if associate hc was a bigger deal then assistant hc or just simply titles.

I'll be the first to admit that I don't follow football closely, but none of this sounds very good to me and is disappointing.
