I cannot believe how far that program has fallen. There's no reason that they can't elevate themselves to the level of some of the other Catholic schools in major metro areas by getting a reputable head coach in there. If Marquette can get there, DePaul should be able to as well. That said, Georgetown still hasn't been able to pick themselves up.

It's a shame.

Not having an arena on campus and joining a conference too big for them really killed that program.

That’s what Loyola did - got a great on-campus arena and got into a conference that suited them.

A long list of current head coaches that could be candidates for the Depaul job. I'm really not sure that Depaul in it's current state is a program that would be competitive for signing a top high mid-major coach; however, a former P6 coach who is looking for a rebound, or a coach of a low major with recent success and who would jump up to a P6 without an intermediary high mid major.

I wonder if Drew Valentine would get a look? Younger up and coming coach trying to get his feet wet now that he mostly has his own players at Loyola. It might be too big of a jump for him though

Will Wade is a sleazebag. He would leave DePaul faster than the wind blows in your face

They need a veteran coach but not what they did with Purnell previously. Someone who can play the Chicago politics game

that program is really one of the toughest P6 jobs right now - imo, better suited for an older 50’s-60’s aged coach looking to get back in the game . like when they hired Pat Kennedy and Jerry Wainwright

that’s been coaching graveyard since the 1990’s

What’s their NIL like?

Josh Pastner would be a good fit. He's a great recruiter who can't coach worth a darn. It'd be like Fat Pat, all over again.

I don't think that anyone is saying that they should be 29-3 with a #1 seed year in and year out. Being a steady .500 team with a 19-12 year here and there should be achievable.

With regards to NIL, it's the chicken/egg theory. If you win, more NIL potential, yet at the same time, if you get the NIL upfront, you can win.

Tyler Kolek's NIL for Marquette is valued at 500K. The guy was a first team All American coming into the season.

Now, maybe getting Mark Aguirre involved in the program is going to help? If Northwestern can be competitive year in and year out(not Big Ten Champion good)...I can't imagine that DePaul can't.

College basketball isn't supported in Chicago and that's unfortunate.

Valentine wants the MSU job …

Read somewhere today that they are the lowest of the Big East with a pool of $500K, versus the avg of $2M for the league.

Xavier, Creighton, UConn, and Nova are all over $2 million … Think St. John’s is heading there in terms of NIL with Pitino in charge now …

DePaul doesn’t belong in the Big East … They can’t compete financially …

Seems that DePaul has 2 options to be relevant, step up the NIL money/recruitment, or move to the A10/MVC.
