penn state is losing everyone as well. would be a smart time to leave
Good point as well, and as great of a job he has done to find and develop Pickett these past two years, players with that skill set don't grow on trees. Pickett might be the hardest player in the Big Ten to replace next year, outside of Edey if he leaves Purdue. Although knowing Painter, I'm sure he has another 7'3 monster in the pipeline.

I still have a tough time seeing Micah not getting serious money from PSU to stay , and instead leaving to go to Georgetown of all places

I could understand him leaving for ND , but Georgetown ? it’s been a long time since they were big time .

Most schools would, but PSU is still a football school. Georgetown will be much more desperate to pay up and because of its history, the ceiling is much higher than Penn State. It has been a long time since Georgetown has been big time, but PSU has never been big time. Shrews is old enough (46) where that name will mean something to him.

I thought of your points when writing my post , but in todays age , I still think Georgetown is WAY behind and in a mainly crappy conference .

I guess we’ll find out in the next 2-3 weeks

Maybe they will pony up and he will stay at PSU or take a different job like Notre Dame. Clearly at this point Georgetown is way behind in talent and performance in recent seasons. But again we're talking about Penn State basketball here. They have no national footprint in the sport and are seen as a fun story that this program that has never done anything of any significance on the court.

Also as Big Ten fans we should not throw stones at the Big East. I don't think it's the greatest conference anymore but they have four National Championships since 2011 from UConn and Nova and have had more ranked teams than the Big Ten all season long as programs like Marquette, Xavier, Providence and Creighton continue to rise. I think the only truly crappy programs in the Big East aside from Georgetown as of late are DePaul and St. John's.

Like you said though, we'll see what Shews or other top coaches think of the job in the coming weeks.

ND, another football-uber-alles institution?

Maybe I'm more nostalgic than most, but the very easy-to-understand case for Georgetown is that they like basketball at that school, which is not the case where Shrewsberry currently coaches.

If I recall correctly, at one point you had BU in their top 5. So...does that mean BU is included in this group that has told them no already (if you're allowed to share)?

BU was not in Del Conte tier 1 as of this week … Everyone in that tier 1 group has turned him down …

They may try and keep revisiting the Cal thing but if Del Conte focuses in on that and doesn’t focus on others … He will lose the rest and Cal will stay and he’ll be screwed.

Who in the world was in the top 5 if Brad wasn’t??

Must be aiming extremely high.

Look, we all like Brad and probably have a better sense of his value than people a few more degrees removed from the program, but this profession is measured by the tournament and he's never been to the second weekend.

Eh. Mostly I was basing my comment on what insiders here have said previously. The tourney has been disappointing, but Texas could do a heckuva lot worse than Brad.

So if people have turned them down already, and Brad wasn’t one of them, they must have been aiming high and being aggressive. That’s all I was saying.

Totally. I'm just saying there's a pretty quick and easy way to get to a list of 5 that doesn't include Brad (especially if you have the hubris of UT and are like "did we at least ASK if Coach K wanted to come out of retirement?")
