Can't really blame a kid for chasing a bag at Texas Tech and I would guess a lot of coaches that recruit guys transferring down now pitch it as come play and develop with me and set yourself up to cash in with another year or two.

And honestly he probably does have some valid negative feelings toward the program from that season(same with Morez and Tre). He probably deserved more tick his last year here.

He always played his !!! off defensively and did a good job of getting around screens. He wasn't shooting consistently here but also that sometimes happens when your minutes are irregular. Could make a case that you could have easily taken some minutes from Boswell and Kasparis and played Dra in like a 20 minutes 6th man role.

He clearly doesn't fit the size that the Underwoods want their guards to have thought so maybe some of that. So I can see why Dra would have that chip when he was likely told he was too small to play here and then he went and averaged 20 while shooting 41% from 3 in the MWC before getting recruiting by a top tier program in Tech.
Yeah, I support the dude and I hope we're talking about him like we are Podz and Morez as an NBA dude a couple of years from now.

I think he got as much time as his performance (shooting) warranted. Similar to Tre & Podz, we don't see practice and can't speak to who else is earning that time. And similar to Ty, there's value in going down the level getting the ball in your hand and getting your shot/game/confidence right. Good for him

I liked Dra and he definitely did the right thing to bet on himself but the fact was he was not a good defender at all and the ball was very sticky in his hands on offense. Sure he played hard on defense but you also have to play smart and he was very lacking there. Underwood has always preached effort and attention to detail in the scheme. Gotta have both to really be a fit.

I don't blame him one bit for having a huge chip on his shoulder.

I can't remember whether it was a Maryland game or a Nebraska game (all those frustratingly familiar and predictable collapses blend together for me...) but he was about the only player giving a !!!! or holding his own at the end of the game, and he helped us squeak into overtime, and then he didn't see the floor again as we lost with a lineup that shouldn't have inspired any confidence in anyone.

I give him credit for even getting on the team bus after that. I would have found my own way home.
It was AT Nebraska (and I'd say your post is pretty on point).

He made a huge game-tying 3 to send it to overtime, was having a great game with 15pts, but didn't see the court in OT.

Donovan Dent has…

*checks notes*

… uh… retired… from basketball.

I mean he could’ve made a ton of money overseas. Basketball is a global sport; there’s really no reason to quit if you don’t make the NBA (unless you have no professional-caliber potential).

The original article which makes it clear he wants to be a youth trainer and the NIL money he got last year is helping him get started. Good for him for having something he is passionate about.

Torvik has them 34 in his preseason model. Pretty far below Kentucky fan expectations.

College basketball maybe has 4 to 5 years left in current state... Then the super conference will take it over

The breakaway has begun, and here we all thought it would start in football.

Plenty of investing buzzwords there to make it sound good. Wonder how these sorts of contracts interact with the conference. Is this just another non-conference scheduling move? The idea that anything of this nature can last into the 2030s seems dicey, given how fast the sport is changing, but who knows. With top brands and a good media partner, no reason it couldn't.

There’s no way the NCAA lets RJ Luis play…right???
If RJ Luis plays really well for LSU, could an NBA team pluck him from the roster in the middle of the season since he would not be subject to being draft eligible for a second time?

makes it illegal for coaches to leave their teams before the season concludes and schools cannot hire coaches before a season concludes — something those on Capitol Hill refer to the “Lane Kiffin Rule,”

LOL@ Lane Kiffin!

Feels like everyone lost their mind this off-season about KY and their roster seems...fine?

Reasonably could be a S16 team
If they get Milan, they should be a top 15 team preseason.

People are just obsessed with narratives. If Nebraska or some "Cinderella" school had the roster KY has, they'd be ranked top 10.

Unless Torvik is missing half of their players, I’m not sure they’d currently be a top 10 team. Torvik has them at 35. Nebraska’s #14 btw.

Seems like a pipe dream.

Both because our politics are broken...politicians can't even agree on something facially simple like day light savings...but it's not simple legislation if they do it right: there's a myriad of challenges they'd need to address based on states rights (many states have already passed laws), 1st amendment rights to speech (remember it's monetizing NIL), antitrust laws and due process concerns that will require a lot of politically opposed folks to agree.

I definitely agree with the coaches leaving fix, but the other two I have problems with. Being that it’s college sports, a student’s academic endeavors (yeah I know like 95% of the athletes aren’t there for academics) shouldn’t be limited in totality. And say you enter your second school and you realize it’s an absolute nightmare fit; are we “too bad so sad?” I like other ideas thrown out there like one free transfer but after that you lose a year of eligibility or have to redshirt or something. So you can still transfer again, but do have some limitations.

And then the pro thing completely overvalues the term “pro” with regards to European and other International leagues. They don’t have high school and collegiate sports the way we do here. It’s not like some 16 year old kid is squaring up in a league with the level of play similar to the NBA’s elite while making 8-figures.
