College Sports (Football)

I know a lot of people are upset with Tech’s QB being able to play. However they are taking advantage of the system. People compare this to Pete Rose however there is no CBA for the NCAA

My hope is everyone realize the NCAA is powerless on any issues. Players could use steroids or other things to get a competitive advantage

The power conferences for revenue sports need to establish a CBA for football and basketball. Once a CBA is established then you can enforce your rules. I know this easier said than done but this event can show why a CBA is needed. Get the courts out of player and school issues

You can not establish a CBA unless you have a player's union which requires you to classify players as employees of the university.

It's worth saying the sad reality of this out loud

This grand philosophical and governance crisis for college sports and the penetration of gambling into society would be over in five minutes if you gave Texas Tech a one-day transfer portal to buy a different quarterback.

The only reason any of this is happening is because Texas Tech has so much invested in a season for which they have no other choice but Sorsby to lead it. They'd love to be rid of this problem, just not quite enough to suffer through 7-5.

Bonus irony: Will Hammond, who is on their roster already, might been their starter already in he didn't tear his ACL midseason last year.

Texas Tech’s compassionate, not at all self-serving video hasn’t aged well.

JMO

1. kids should be able to move schools annually. No other sports besides football and basketball forced you to sit out.

2. schools are making big money for sports. kids should get a share.

3. college athletics has become a job. colleges should treat it like one and structure $NIL payments to protect themselves. If colleges sign dumb $NIL contracts then dont complain and try to get the money back. You wrote the contract.

4. If you cant afford to compete then quit trying. Rutgers has never been football or basketball power. Board of trustees should get this crap under control. Massive losses 3 years in a row with B10 TV money? They just dont have the fan and alumni base to play with big boys.

5. $20M $NIL cap was joke since it allowed unlimited 3rd party $NIL. Don't let schools pay $NIL. They are too stupid to control themselves. The courts will never allow a $NIL cap and schools just spend over anyway.
