Home Depot seems obvious. TEMU, Dave and Busters, and Reeses also come to mind.

PS - I hate this.

How about The Outfit as a sponsor? Uni’s could be similar to the red grange ones except the helmet looks like a fedora and jersey and pants look like a suit. Can run a bunch of gambling ads.

Maybe knee replacement ads

State Farm has to have a solid chance.

Plenty of $........BloNo HQ.......Everyone seeing it is a potential customer.

Some thoughts:

1.We’re not Wisconsin…so it can’t be Madison.
2.Jimmy John’s started at E.I.U. not here. Better than some of the others, but I say: Nah. We can do better.
3. At least maybe if it were State Farm they might actually have to concede to make the damn logo our actual colors for the jersey; unlike the court. (Red)

Other quirky ideas…(volition-would have been amazing had they not shuttered their doors.)

After a century, Cat still has a very big presence in Illinois, but moved its headquarters to Texas in 2022..

As encouraging as anything else on that chart, since 2021, Illinois football has more wins than:

Michigan St
Mississippi St
Arkansas
Wisconsin
Kentucky
Florida St
UCLA
Nebraska
Aurburn
Florida
Arizona St
Indiana
Cincinnati
Oklahoma St
West Virgin
Syracuse
Oregon St
Arizona
Rutgers
Virginia
Vanderbilt
Purdue
Boston College
Northwestern
Virginia Tech
Colorado
Stanford
South Florida
Cal
Maryland
UCF
Baylor

I remember when this was one of the worst P4/P5 programs in the country.

yup

less than 10 years ago we were in the bottom 5-10 of all P4-G5 programs - along with IU, KU & Duke . Pretty big change since then . Good coaching and the transfer portal are the main reason for that for us & the other named programs . Going forward add $$ to the reasons for B1G programs raising the floor of the bottom 1/3 of the conference.

Time for Rutgers & Purdue to step up

On the other hand, by that chart our talent is still, on average, the worst in the Big Ten. Doing more.with less is nice and shows.good coaching, but we are bumping our heads on a low ceiling.

A couple of things:

1. Recruiting rankings aren’t an exact science. Do you think Florida, Auburn, and Florida St actually pull in top recruiting classes and they lose so many games because they have the worst coaching staffs in the country? Or do you think it’s possible players see a bump in rating when they commit to those programs because that generates subscribers for recruiting sites? The inverse can also be true.

2. This chart goes back to 2021 before we had on the field success. Now that we have, we’ve seen a decently sizable bump in recruiting success the past few years. But like Whitman said on the podcast circuit last week, we’ll likely always need a punch a class or two above our weight.
