it would be great if every P4 program has to play 12 games against like programs . I’ll believe it when I see it .

You'll never see one of our coaches treat reporters like that. Not sure why everyone was laughing. He was clearly irate.

Realistically 9 conference games and 1 p4 non conference game is plenty. Let’s get everyone to do that and then we can talk about 11 or 12 p4 games.
Does Power 5 mean teams like Louisiana Monroe like he and other SEC teams play(ed) all the time? Now he is retired, he can talk.
I agree . but the end game should be every P4 school plays 9 conference games & 3 P4 noncon
I could easily be talked into 2 P4 noncon & just one G5 . but FCS schools should be prohibited. TV doesnt want those games & fans don’t either

i agree with the no fcs teams. I would be fine jd we played 2 g5 teams and 1 p4 team. The other thing you could do is expand conference play to 10 games
They'd still want to be included in the playoff, no? That's where a ton of the revenue is going to be and I can't imagine the fans would stand for it from a sporting standpoint. Is it their way of saying they [still] don't plan on playing by the NCAA rules? Because that ship has mostly sailed anyway. Curious what 'break away' means for them. Still feels mostly like a bluff but if they have a new model, would be curious to see how they do it, and how big a hit they would take from the current streams. If they establish a conference model that still goes to the CFP, not sure it would be all that different. And staying out of the playoff after 3 straight losses would be a great way to look like a bunch of chickens. Just don't see where they have anything to gain.

i’m guessing that what they “want” is to play by their rules in everything roster related .
same game rules
but they want their own post season tourney & then their champion plays whoever for the National Championship
basically we will govern ourselves, play the actual game by NCAA rules , have our own 8 team tourney to determine who gets a spot in the CFP championship game . all the while getting their espn money and then some more espn money for their mini tourney

If the SEC spent as much time trying to improve as they did pissing and moaning, maybe they wouldn't be the second best conference
they simply took it for granted all these years that they would always get the best talent & overall rosters as they weren’t afraid to pay .
things have changed
They coasted on the absolutely massive ESPN deal before NIL. The playing field is actually more even since then(for the the AQ schools/ND at least).
People don't realize how much that benefitted Indiana(not that Cig isn't a fantastic coach too...). It is still fantastic to be an SEC school, the Big Ten just made some fantastic decisions(quickly too...) that made up a ton a ground on the SEC and likely even took the top spot from them at this point.
Even schools at the bottom of the conference fight like absolute dogs. Purdue against USC, NU too.
if the trajectory stays on course , and we continue to be bowl eligible every year, he has a great chance to be our best coach since Zuppke
