Sounds impressive but he has no authority beyond Ohio. Out-of-state games/schools and the NCAA aren’t subject to his declarations.
It had as much teeth as

That’s exactly why Shahid Khan was refused an honorary PhD, which in turn led him to withhold big gifts. The Faculty Senate disapproved of one of his companies, Flex N Gate in Urbana, resisting a union organizing effort. The Illini have already been burned by a political purity test, but not all of our competitors play these foolish games.
Did it? Is there a source for this?

This is high school football not college but I found it Illini related and utterly pathetic.

Miles Smith is the head coach at a high school in Mesa, AZ. He kicked his QB off the team for calling an audible. The former OC encouraged the QB to make audibles when appropriate, but apparently Smith fired the OC. Poor little Miles said he felt disrespected by his QB calling and audible and kicked him off the team right then and there. Their next game they get blown out 49-7. After the game he had a team meeting and asked who wanted the QB back? When a dozen or more players said they wanted the QB back, Smith said fine you're off the team too then.

Class act as usual.

From @spotter source: “Kate Clancy, a member of the anthropology department, complained about news reports that Khan recently held a “yacht party” attended by politicians she deemed suspect. ‘There are some ethical concerns,’ Clancy said.”

So it wasn’t just old labor issues at Flex N Gate, but he was deemed guilty of associating with non-favored politicians. The article states the senate ignored criteria that are to apply to awarding honorary degrees while applying irrelevant ones. It was purely political retribution.

That wasn't my question though. I bolded the part about him "withholding big gifts." What is the source of that information?
