Reds already lost and the Brewers are down two halfway through against the Pirates.
If the worst case scenario tomorrow is that the Cubs are in the exact same spot (in the division) as they were Friday morning, then that's a win in my book.

Replying to myself. After checking, all of the teams ahead of us in the wildcard race lost Friday. Who would have thunk it?

No. I visit weekly.
I actually try to contribute periodically and not in a mean way, sometimes even complimentary, but over half the time it gets deleted. I think if you start off and say "I'm a Cubs fan" someone deletes it.

Hope we can keep our edge. It wouldn’t be unlike the Cubs to struggle against the “lesser” teams here.
The good news is that we dominated bottom feeder teams like the Nationals, Cardinals and White Sox since the All-Star break to get back into the playoff hunt to begin with. Man does it feel good to correctly refer to the Cardinals and as Sox bottom feeders!
But you are right that they need to keep the foot on the gas and take advantage of the fortunate schedule over the next month.
Yeah. 12-6 is about what I was thinking for the goal, too. That would put them solidly in a playoff slot. Then comes 7 against the Brewers and Reds to take control of the division.
Not sure how this will go, but just having meaningful baseball in September is going to be fun.

Yeah playing against teams like the Mets who suddenly have no pressure seems a little scary.
On the other hand, if the fever has broken with the Reds and Brewers, there's the opportunity to not just win the division, but potentially win it by a lot.
(My sincere apologies if that sentence looks ridiculous come October)

Interesting - per Baseball Reference, the Cubs now have a 77% chance of making the playoffs and are the division playoffs. It helps that they have the weakest remaining SOS. 30 days ago, their playoff chances were 33%.
