Nice, zippy 2 hour 23 minute game. Didn’t feel rushed as it was happening. It just never dragged like it sometime does.
I got to the point the last couple of years that I would only watch the games 1 to 2 hours after they started at double speed. It was the only way I could get through them. The 15 second rule allows me to watch the games live without getting super bored and frustrated by the long breaks in the action. Great rule change.

And Miles, they put you in for defensive purposes. You've got to lay out and at least try to catch that ball. It almost hit you in the foot.

I’m more sympathetic to Assad. With an off day yesterday and another on Thursday, there was no particular reason to have him come out for a second inning, let alone not even have anyone up in the bullpen.

Mastrobuoni… that was inexcusable. Like, the first bus back to Des Moines kind of inexcusable.

When Seiya comes back you won't see him anymore.

I'm not one to nitpick managers' decisions but tonight was a total David Ross loss. He had NO business leaving Smyly in for that long in the 5th inning. Was he just trying to get him a W ?? Well, guess what, he didn't deserve one...... 7 ER's. And Thompson was all warmed up in bullpen. He pitched 3 1/3....0R, 1H, 3k's.

I agree leaving him in was a stretch but no quality pitcher should be giving up 7 to the Reds in 4.2. Also, the lack of RISP is already rearing it's ugly head

I’ve not been impressed with Ross’ managing these first four games.

What was with Wisdom bunting? If he was hurt, why was he even in there? And why was he swinging away later in the game. If he wasn’t hurt, what the Hell?

The rest of baseball is off and running, setting records for stolen base attempts. The Cubs - who were 4th in baseball in stolen bases last year under the old rules - only have 2 attempts in 4 games.

I also don’t like Morel being down at Iowa. I think he fills some of the holes on this roster.

I understand with him skipping AAA and going straight to MLB from AA last year they want to season him some more thinking that they have a deeper roster now. But it seems to me that logic went out the window when Suzuki got hurt.

It’s only 3 games, but thus far Morel is OPSing 1.300, Mervis 1.167 and Velazquez 1.379.

I would hope those guys won’t have to do that for too long before getting the call up.

Yeah we need to get with the times and get running. Another reason to bring Morel up, since it's not an overly speedy team at the moment.

Who predicted the standings would look like this after one week?
