Situation sounds very serious and complex. Thoughts and prayers are with him and his immediate family. If possible, hope he can return to a future position with the Illini basketball program.

Fantastic player, but an even better person. Best wishes to Dee and his family.

Must have been a very hard decision for him. It's very hard to let go of something you love so much (in this case, the Illinois basketball). I feel for him. I hope he's ok, and his family is doing ok.

So with the news of Dee resigning, how does everyone see this impacting our relationships with current recruits?
Don't see it having much of an impact, due to the circumstances of him leaving. This wasn't a firing or a non-voluntary resignation. I'm sure the recruits understand the situation.

The impact is that you do not have Dee's dynamic personality to interact with the recruits while on campus, not much of other impact.

Wonder if the new big guy on the radio broadcasts could switch over? Is Roger still coaching? I know it isn't a coaching on the floor position, but I always kind of thought there was thinking that it was an inroad to possible position down the road.

It is a big step down for Roger. He is the associate head coach at Vandy.

Roger is associate head coach as Vanderbilt. This is a much lower position, and outside his career path.

Terrible news. The only way I see Dee resigning is if something very bad befell him or his family. Just plain sucks. Wish him and his family all the best.

Dee is still part of the ILLINI family, just not employed by the University. Thank You for coming back and inspiring all of us to hold our heads high regardless of the Wins and Losses. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.

Dear #11: If you read this for some reason, you are an amazing source of positivity for others. I am just a middle aged ex-townie basketball fan, but I literally make sure to think about you a couple of times a week to stay positive. Whatever challenges you face, I hope they fall away. All good things to you.
