I don’t think that’s the case at all for the majority. I’d like to hear what you see that makes you feel we are on the right path.
Perspective of years, including the stink bomb at Mizzou September 1983.

That’s fair but again, why isn’t it working? And why is it working for the other team on the field? We need to start having that conversation too. It’s very clear that Lovie as a Defensive Coordinator is only one part of our problem right now.

Betiku actually wasn’t doubled as much as you might think. He got one on one on the outside a number of times. And when he is chipped by a TE or a back, that means we have one on ones everywhere else along the defensive front. Why aren’t those players winning those one on one battles? Why did a MAC team come into our stadium and win those battles? We need to start having this conversation.
Doesn’t work when LBs can’t get off a block. Or when DL stands straight up or just loses battle. Betiku had enough attention on him that others didn’t step up. Lack of strength, smarts and will are the issues. We praise Lou, but you are only strong in weight room. If not strong in pads and not taught leverage, then you have 2-3 win seasons. Enjoy the butt kicking vs real Big Ten comp. I’ll wait for coaching change thread.

So there was this Purdue team last year that lost to EMU. Their season turned out alright didn't it?

Still have a tiny bit of hope. Not sure why though.

Luckily there are plenty of winnable games left on the schedule. We have the talent to do it, just need to play better. Purdue lost to the same team last year and went bowling. Purdue, Northwesten, Minnesota, Rutgers, and Northwestern are all beatable.

You naysayers were just waiting with baited breath for this. EMU has bowled 2 years running and will again. Sure, let’s start over and then trash the next HC because that’s what you do best.
Apparently you think Lovie has done a great job?

You are a better person than me if you can have optimism and hope after losing to Eastern Michigan at home. Kudos to you.

I wonder if the right play once EMU got close to the goal line was to just carry their RB into the endzone while trying to force it on the way in. They almost did that, but took him down around the 5 or something. We would have gotten another shot on offense with 20 seconds or so to go rather than hoping for a block/miss from 25 yards. Given our clock management today though, IDK if we would have put together a successful ~70 yard drive together at the end.

This is what I’m driving at. We can talk about Lovie Smith (And we should), we can talk about Rod Smith (And we should) but we need to start doing more talking about some of the players themselves.

And that doesn’t mean just Brandon Peters either. I assure you, Isaiah Williams isn’t righting this ship either.

Thats fair, Rod needs to understand what is transpiring on the field and make adjustments to that. That’s a solid, fair point although I still see it another way personally. The OL is SUPPOSED to be the strength of this team. If you can’t trust the strength of your team, who can you trust?

It’s time for Lovie to go. Josh should be right behind him. He has yet to make the right coaching hire.

Call me crazy, but I was thinking the same thing.

Disheartening loss, we were planning on going to the Nebraska game. Not sure I want to spend $300 next weekend to see this?!? We did show some heart on our last offensive drive. No disrespect to Eastern Michigan but the players should be ashamed of this loss letting a mediocre MAC team out play & discipline them. The program has been in the ditch for nearly a decade & some on here wonder why there are so many jaded comments, really??? Six wins?!?!? I just don't see it, hopefully they prove me wrong!

Where would be the appropriate place to start throwing some names out there?
May as well get the coaching carousel thread started!

I’m not convinced that a 3 or 4 win season gets Lovie fired this year unless the team obviously quits on him. Besides, we all know we will be better next year, amirite?!

Looking at the schedule...I honestly dont see another win , unless our opponent somehow comes down with a big case of the flu or other malady.

It’s sad when all fans want in a football team is 6-6 and a bowl bid and we can’t even get that. This is absolutely pathetic, we sit close to Chicago and STL, no way we shouldn’t be going 6-6 to 8-4 every year...
