English Premier League 2017-2018

Deadline day today. Everton's only real move was signing a striker from the Croatian side they had just played in Europa League.

And Ross Barkley was apparently going to go to Chelsea but reportedly left in the middle of the medical which led to some really funny gif reactions I saw on twitter including this one which had the following tweet (and the gif associated with it):

Ross Barkley walking in to do his MRI and realising he wouldn't be near Chelsea's starting XI.

Another week, another shutout loss for the Toffees. This time 0:4 at Old Trafford against Manchester United which included three goals in the final 10 minutes of the match. Everton have not scored a goal in a Premier League match since a 1:1 draw at Manchester City nearly a month ago.

The only "positive" is that this does end the brutal start to their beginning schedule they have. They'll host Bournemouth next Saturday.

Crystal Palace set a record for futility. They are the first first side in 129 years of English top-flight history to open the season with five defeats and no goals scored.

And, their next 3 matches are against Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea.

That's incredible. And it's not like they have a bunch of nobodies try to kick the ball in the net. They have some decent talent.

Everton return to their winning ways today with a 2:1 win over Bournemouth. Toffees were aided by two second half goals by Oumar Niasse in a match that looked like it was going to be more of the same in terms of recent form. Everton host Burnley next Sunday.

Harry Kane is a man on a mission right now. 4-0 Spurs today over Relegation candidate Huddersfield. Tough stretch coming up with Real Madrid, Liverpool, and United all in October.

City looked great today at Stamford Bridge. Helped that Morata had to leave after picking up a knock but we also didn’t have Agüero. If Delph/Danilo can be serviceable at LB (Delph has been fantastic in two games so far) City are gonna be reaaaal tough to take down. It’s shaping up to be a two horse race between us and United but United haven’t played a top 6 team yet while City have taken 6 points in 2 games against top 6 teams. Should be an exciting season.

Everton lose at home to Burnley 1:0. Another typical performance from the Toffees. Lack of cohesion from the team at all as they lose for the 2nd time at home this season. I knew that losing Lukaku would hurt but I didn't realize things were going to look this bad for the Toffees.

And they'll now have two weeks to stew on this defeat with next week's international break as Everton's next match is not until October 15th when they travel to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Everton draw 1:1 at Brighton & Hove Albion in a match that the Toffees likely should have lost if not for a late PK score by Wayne Rooney. Seat starting to get a bit warmer for Ronald Koeman with lack of positive results thus far this season. Everton hosts Arsenal next Sunday.
