They are both decent options...when they are healthy. Unfortunately, both are currently injured.

Plymouth Argyle picks off another Premier League club, upsetting Liverpool 1:0 in the FA Cup. Most of the Liverpool regulars didn't even travel for the match with players like Harvey Elliott, Diogo Jota, and Luis Diaz in the starting XI with Darwin Nunez coming in as a 2nd half sub.

They have a half-dozen players scheduled to return from injury in the next few weeks. They are still alive in Europa League. I would be surprised if he's sacked before they bow out there.

As a Spurs fan I still believe in Ange, I want him here to stay. I'm a big believer in "Next man up" but man our injury situation is beyond tough. Having an 18 year old Archie Gray being our best CB at the moment, while not being a CB and playing in the prem for the first time is such a tough ask. I think he should at least have until the end of the year. See what he can do when some players start to return.

In a sign of how tough things are right now for Manchester United, Victor Lindelof is the only player on today's bench for their match at Spurs that has Premier League experience and is not a teenager.

That sounds like the last 2 months at Spurs. Except the teenagers were in the starting lineup and not just on the bench. But, 3 of the injured returned yesterday. One of them (Maddison) scored the only goal and another (Vicario) made several good saves to keep a clean sheet. Spurs are up to 12th and, if they can avoid the injury bug, should easily finish in the top half and mount a challenge in Europa League.

It's been a tough season at Spurs, but at least they own Manchester:

@OrangeBlue98 , when you get a chance take a look at the late penalty that got overturned in the Manchester United-Everton match. I know you said you've got some officiating experience so I'd be curious as to your perspective.
Ok. Full disclosure it likely won’t be until later on Sunday. I’m involved in training sessions all weekend, including now.

I will say I checked a soccer discussion board’s refereeing forum, and the consensus was a fairly soft penalty, but one that should not have been overturned. But that’s second hand info.

No worries. Get to it when you can.

It was a clear dive by Young, who easily could have received a yellow for embellishment. There was a pull of the shirt, but Maguire had his shirt pulled in the opposing box earlier and it wasn't called.

The piece I was most interested in that was never mentioned is that Everton had a player who was clearly in an offside position on the rebound. To me it should have been whistled offside as he was between the ball and keeper and attempted to play the ball.

Barça fan here. Champions League has some interesting matchups in the round of 16.
I imagine Arsenal fans are happy with their PSV draw, no?
Liverpool - PSG. I was hoping FC Barcelona would get PSG instead of Benfica. I think Liverpool can exploit PSG's defense but am certainly looking forward to this matchup
Aston Villa - Club Brugge - somebody's got to advance.
Love seeing the Atletico - Real Madrid draw - 1) because they can't both advance and 2) hope they just grind each other down for La Liga and Copa del Rey tournament.
What are your thoughts?

Arsenal fans are happy with that draw.
Villa fans are absolutely thrilled with that Club Brugge draw. Yeah, it won't be an easy matchup but they could have gotten a far worse draw.

Got a chance to look at this, and I took a LONG time to look at it. Admittedly, I've heard a lot of chatter/analysis about this, so I'm not sure how biased my comments will be (full disclosure - not a fan of either team).

Live action, I can understand why Madley gave the penalty. Not saying it's the right call, just saying that at that speed I can understand why the penalty was given.

I'm normally of the opinion that if you have given a penalty that you generally don't overturn via VAR unless there is virtually no contact. However, in my opinion, I would make an exception here FOR THE HOLD (I'll explain why I emphasized in a minute). There is no way that shirt pull had any impact on the play, and the reaction was WAY overblown for that level of hold. Unfortunately, this happens in soccer. But VAR was there to do a correct overturn, in my opinion. I don't see this as re-refereeing.

At first glance, I thought Maguire might have also made contact with the lower body. This was particularly interesting to me, as I assessed a referee on a game two weekends ago and we had a very similar type of play where he also gave a penalty and I did not think it was a penalty either in live action or by watching the replay later. But there was no contact. So in my personal opinion, I think VAR correctly found a clear and obvious error. However, that is going against the general consensus among my officiating colleagues that there wasn't enough video evidence to overturn the call.

To note the possible offside, there was a player in an offside position. However, that player (although it was close) was not actively involved in the play. The three MU players involved in the play are not reacting to that player. Had the ball gone to 14 Blue, OR any of the three players had reacted to him being there, then you would have had an offside. That's a really hard play to identify, even for elite professional assistant referees. But, I don't think there would have been an offside offense had the penalty "stood" and then they looked at a potential offside. But that's just my opinion - with English VAR, who knows what would have eventually transpired?

I'm sorry I gave an "Ed Hochuli" explanation here. I'm trying to account for all aspects of the play and at least provide both sides of the situation before giving my final opinion.

Thanks for your input.

Supposedly there's a couple of angles that the VAR didn't show to the referee on the review that more clearly shows the shirt pull by Maguire. While Ashley Young did dive to a certain extent (because Ashley Young will dive sometimes), the contact by the Man U player more than warranted the penalty being given in my opinion.
