Lol can't argue with that. John Stones is coming to save the day soon though.

the homegrown players are getting quite expensive when the big clubs want them. 49m pounds for sterling and now 40m pounds for stones? by comparison, diego costa and eden hazard were each 32m pounds.

Being in the same league definitely drives the price up as well. Now Martinez is saying he will block Stones' transfer request. 40m is a ton of money for Everton. They don't have to sell right now, but the longer they wait the more leverage buyers will have if Stones starts forcing his way out.

Not the only matchup of Premier League sides either. There's also Leicester City-West Ham, Sunderland-Manchester City, and Norwich City-West Brom.

Everton will take on Football League Championship side Reading.

Tottenham finalize transfer of Heung-Min Son from Bayer Leverkusen. That should help to bolster the attack.

south koreans haven't really been that impressive in the premier league, especially at scoring. Ji-Sung Park is probably the most successful with 19 goals in 133 appearances for man-u. curious to see if Son can break that trend.

De Bruyne to City. ManU w/$112M bid for Robben. The Manchester clubs aren't playing.

The league is just insanely good this year. Man City is in crazy form right now, but they will also start dropping points eventually.

City can't win 'em all, right? But the addition of de Bruyne gives them a formidable attack: Aguero, de Bruyne, Sterling, Silva, Toure. That's sick.

I don't know how De Bruyne is going to fit into the team. Silva has been so good in CAM this season. Maybe De Bruyne replaces Navas on the wing, but he's not a true winger. Or he could play deeper instead of Fernandinho, but that weakens their defense. He's a great young talent, but I think he's going to have trouble finding his place.

He's going to be up top, right underneath Aguero. We'll see, but I think he's going to be dynamite.

Choosing a soccer club based on your college football team

Illinois
A historically terrible team recently mired in scandal because of a potentially abusive coach. They do not and will not matter in the foreseeable future.

Comparable to ... Sunderland. Illinois’ Tim Beckman was fired last week because he allegedly forced players to play with injuries. Sunderland’s Paolo di Canio, an avowed fascist and notoriously choleric player, was fired after 13 games after his players complained of “brutal and vitriolic treatment.” Neither team are worth monitoring unless it has a new scandal or nadir.

Wow - did anyone see Luke Shaw break his leg in the CL match today? Brutal...

That was terrible. Other than that, great game. Always love to see United lose, and PSV's stadium was rocking. United has a sneaky tough group. I think they'll get to the round of 16, but it will be very close.

Brutal. Not a Man U fan, but feel for Shaw.

United placed a big bet on their 19 yo. They clearly needed someone up top w/Rooney, but I'm not convinced Martial is up to it.

Martial is a signing for the future. I'm confused why they didn't keep Chicharito. He's a true striker who can play up top on his own, unlike Martial and Rooney.
