Love how he admits he knows he will grab headlines, yet still says it. As a person, I actually like Lebron, but as others have pointed out, he didnt play a single college minute, of course hes gonna say its crap.

I don't get why some of you are throwing stones at LeBron for this, or questioning his credibility. He's been in the NBA long enough that I'm sure he's heard from hundreds of players about their college days, and probably hears things far more candidly than anyone outside his position would.

I am in shock that a man who never played a minute in college basketball would know that. This may the statement of the year. :tsk:

I heard a rant from one of many forgettable Fox News people, commenting about LeBron's disparaging comments on President Trump. She said he'd never been elected, so he should just shut up and play ball, or something very close to that.

I thought: 1) What does being elected or not have to do with our most cherished of rights under the 1st Amendment, that of being able to request redress of grievances from the government; 2) What the heck were you elected to, lady?
3) That comment sounds pretty racist.

Don't personally know Lebron, although I do not care for him as a player. However, if anyone can speak to the corruption of recruitment, I am pretty sure he can do so, even without playing ball. This kid was recruited as far back as I think 5/6 grade. It is now still crappy to do so, but far more normal for this to happen. He, I am sure has had everything offered at some point to play college/aau/travelling ball etc.

That said should he speak to it? Who cares! Does he have a voice, yes the same as all of us, however, his might carry some weight.

Her comments were unfortunate & way, way out of line Given her past comments about white performers in music, etc. I think it is a huge stretch to say that her comments were racist. In general, I think running to the racist argument for everything one disagrees is really weak.
As for Lebron he is a great basketball player who has every right to express his opinions. IMO he is stuck on himself, but he has accomplished a lot so maybe he has that right.

I was listening to KOA Radio Last night here in Denver and they had Paul Klee on as a guest. He writes for the Denver Post as the Broncos beat writer but last night they were talking about the college basketball scandal. He said that he received a text last week from one of his contacts & prominent coach in the Big12 showing the schools ledger purchasing dinners and other financial arrangements for players. One has to assume its Bruce or Chester - I couldn't think of who else it could be. I was shocked to hear it.

Klee was in Champaign a long time. Self, Snacks, Kruger, Weber, Chester, and probably some other assistants would all be well known to him. He was good at his job.

Yep. Could just as easily be Self or Kruger or one of those guys. Funny that all of our former coaches and assistants happened to land in the Big 12.

So Klee was saying that coach was admitting to paying for recruits dinners and other things? If I understand right, why would any coach admit to this?

Except Groce who went to Akron. Who, by the way, had a streak of 20+ win seasons dating back to the 2005-06 season. That streak will almost certainly end this year as they currently sit at 12-17. I'm sure that isn't coincidence or anything...

We sure this wasn't from an official visit where the school does pay some costs?

Wonder if anything will ever come of all this stuff besides Patino firing and a bunch of talking heads and fans discussing it.

Looking like De Sousa is one of them for Kansas.

Also based on the actions of Miami and Arizona I’m beginning to wonder if no real punishments will come down on the schools. Almost seems like the sole focus is shoe companies(no pun) and the argument will be shoe companies did this unbeknownst to most schools and coaches outside of a few bad apples like Dawkins. That’s how I see the narrative playing out anyway.

I love how Kansas' spokesperson on the issue puts it as being listed as a 'victim' in the corruption investigation. GMABFB. But, now, do all these coaches who, supposedly, didn't know anything was going on have to concede that they weren't as good at recruiting as everyone thought they were? Doubt it.
