Big turning point was the technical called on Gillis for contact to the head. Just a few plays earlier Flagg scored on a drive while getting wacked in the head, foul was called but they never even reviewed it. He took a harder hit than the one called on Gillis. Should also have been a flagrant 1. Guess he should have crumbled to the floor holding his head to get them to look. Also James got bulldozed on his drive when his head hit the floor with no call. Both of the games tonight the officiating was terrible.

Different games, different scrum. Houston grinded that out, Sampson manufactured plays for points. Conversely, Weber ran some plays for time management but the guys on the court manufactured the comeback. The game tonight was entertaining for sure, but it was different
Houston didn't really do anything different... Duke just stopped scoring and started getting loose with the ball. Houston defense has impact but outside of the final minute it was consistent. Houston definitely turned up the heat final 1:30 especially on in bounds

Why didn't they let Flagg inbound the ball?
James was struggling and it was obvious.
And yes, we took the game from Arizona. Duke choked big time.

I am rooting for Houston. I like their style, and I think they are more of an underdog program than Florida. And frankly I like Sampson. He’s 69, and I always like pulling for the old coaches. Why am I supposed to not like him? Doing whatever it took to get Eric Gordon? I mean that’s recruiting. With guys now getting paid in the millions it’s silly to even be sour over that IMO.

The top two one-seeds lost. At the last possible moment, the tournament stopped going chalk.

Holy shizz what the heck happened!? I fell asleep with Duke up by 8 with about a minute left

Unreal. I’ve said Scheyer is a below average coach for years. Can’t believe he let them choke that away

Sampson coaches Houston. He screwed Illinois. Go Gators.

total difference how the games were officiated, Auburn was allowed to play aggressive to their benefit for most of the first half, then Florida adjusted. Duke got the benefit of a tightly called game, especially on their end of the floor. The best teams/coachs won, should be a great final.

Duke was up 58-45 with 10 minutes left.
Up 64-55 with 2:20 left.

Has to sting for Scheyer. You only get to coach Flagg once.
Yeah getting a team full of freshman that fits that well together is difficult and not easily repeatable.

It truly takes a special group of them and they don't even exist every year. Just look at Kentucky with Cal.

Auburn game plan.....ball into Broome, back to basket....dribble once, back into defender and push for 2 yards whilst swinging non dribble arm to swap defender.....repeat. No foul....

As much as it pains me, I think Scheyer has the potential to be a very good coach. His inexperience showed last night.
He has the potential to become one of the greats. It's why K chose him as his successor: he's very smart and mastered the K curriculum on the court and on the sidelines.

You would think Scheyer would have gotten a really good pure point guard this year either through the portal or a player right out of high school. What was the point in getting Mason Gillis from Purdue? He's not a point guard. Braeden Smith running Duke this year at the point would not have lost to Houston. Purdue almost beat Houston this year with just two good players and a lot of supporting-type players. Smith had 15 assists against Houston.
