If that’s not a catch, what is? Do you need to stand up with the ball in hand, walk over and hand it to the ref in order to complete the process of a catch?

That's even worse than the overturned Calvin Johnson touchdown from years back. Absolutely ridiculously bad call. Refs should be fired at halftime.
The ball never touched the ground and Hightower grabbed it with his foot down. Horrible call

If he makes a diving catch with a foot down, its a TD. If he grabs the ball after a scrum with a foot down, it's not? FOAD.

Dean Blandino & 2 confident announcers. I was saying, yeah but we are the Illini…..this is not gonna go favorably.
I think they are saying the ball DID hit the ground. At that point, the catch after it came out wouldn’t have counted anyway.
That incomplete call is just bothersome on several levels.

Agreed, catchable ball.
Tough pill to swallow. I touchdown taken away by a TERRIBLE (and easy) call and another touchdown opportunity dropped. Got to catch that ball! But hey, Illini teams of the past would have also missed the FG so there’s that!

Bret Bielema needs to have words with the officials going into halftime again. What part of Indiana must that side official have grown up? In the NFL you need continuation, not college. They absolutely blew this call, and people need to be reprimanded for it. This is sizing up for someone to win by less than 7 points, so it's not cool that we were robbed out of 4 points.
