This season has been hard to care about as we've slipped further and further into irrelevance, but here is something I have used to motivate myself to keep cheering: all-time series results. Here is how we stand against the pre-expansion Big Ten currently, folks (NOTE: this might be before this season, as I pulled it from Wikipedia):

86-89 vs. Indiana
83-71 vs. Iowa
86-81 vs. Michigan
58-59 vs. Michigan State
122-65 vs. Minnesota
132-40 vs. Northwestern
104-76 vs. Ohio State
28-14 vs. Penn State
87-99 vs. Purdue
110-84 vs. Wisconsin

At one point a few years back, we had a winning record vs. everyone except for Purdue. :( This season is lost, but let's keep that edge over Iowa! And, since Iowa is our opponenet today, here is our home and away breakdown vs. Iowa (it's quite staggering):

In Champaign: 61-16
In Iowa City: 21-54

Since 2000, we are actually 7-6 at Carver-Hawkeye!! We have also won 23 of our last 26 vs. Iowa in Champaign, haha.

I feel good about this game because John Groce said we practiced well this week.

Can't tell if you're being sarcastic, but it seems like he says that before every embarrassing road beatdown.

I'm sticking with my Iowa by 20 prediction: 83-63

It's a generous helping of sarcasm. Poor JG can't even win pressers anymore like he used to.

With that said, I actually do feel good about this game. We've done well against Iowa in recent years. Groce seems to at least have McCaffrey figured out. Also, I'd say that Iowa is historically bad at the moment (barring Jok being Jok) but the Lickliter years weren't that terribly long ago. =P

If nothing else, it will be another game of enjoying TJL and KN.

It's kinda funny how little this game matters.

If anything...just get the Fran-O-Meter in the red.

Bad basketball early - both ways

ok, I'll finally come out and say this: These guys do not know what they are doing on the court. The offense is terrible.

Although, I am liking the in your face defense they seem to be playing

Illinois looking competent against a press for the first time all year.

Where did that come from Black? Is that his first dunk in an Illini uni?

Can we find any more ways to give this game away than a travel by Tate? Really?

Tate...

And as usual, from our SG position (JCL): 0 for 3, 1 turnover. Cmon, guys!!!

What is the little bump on the back of the Iowa players? It's under their jerseys where their names are.

Seriously, why are Tate and Abrams both in there during a 9-0 Iowa run? We need scorers, producers. No Kipper, no TJL? What the heck?

Not entirely his fault, but we have not scored since Tate hit the floor.

Almost 6 minutes without a point...

EDIT: Over 6 minutes without a point...

Lucas breaks the press to get Hill an open look which results in a travel. Not impressed with the upperclassmen.

tjl, kipper, finke - if we can figure it out, why can't the bench coaches figure it out?

#24
what a ticky tack foul on the Kipper! Really? Homer call.

There is very little rhyme or reason as to when & why Coach Groce substitutes the way he does.
