The Valek teams got the carp beat out of them, but I don't recall them looking this bad. Maybe my memory is failing me.

I honestly can't come up with one good fathomable reason why I still pay attention to this football team when I don't even see one tiny sliver of hope.

Williams will start day one, DAY ONE. BEACH HOUSE

Let’s hope he shows up for day one. Many of US who have a vested interest (fans for decades, alumni, etc.) are becoming more apathetic/doubting Lovie with each passing game—what do we think a kid who’s been to campus like 10 times and has blue bloods in his ear is thinking...

What does it mean when one of the ten worst offenses in the country puts up 300+ yards in the first half with a back that had 118 yards for the season rings up 182 on your in a half? If you can't defend the worst in the nation, what kind of product do you have no the field. Better question, WHY is this happening?

Haha.... incorrect sir.

What has improved?

Our win total? We beat an absolutely abysmal Rutgers team this year, to give us 3 total. I guess thats better than 2.

Are we more technically sound? Do we tackle well? Do we cover well? Do we catch and throw better? Do we play more disciplined? We give up touchdowns like candy on Halloween, and we seldom score them. Maybe I am wrong, but I think we looked better against USF, Penn State than we did against Wisconsin, Purdue and now MD. Feels like we are moving backwards.

Me too. But, yet, here I sit...is it me or, perhaps, something from my childhood, that makes me do this?

I agree he will win the starting position if he stays. But I don't see how this fixes our problems. There are just too many issues for one (or two including Beason) outstanding recruits to come in and change the program. MJ has thrown some good passes today; the receivers can't catch anything. Or the line is holding. Or there is ineligible man down field. Williams can't fix all that.

At least Valek had an excuse as he came in after the slush fund scandal with a roster that was completely decimated.

He isn’t going to fix everything but this team has holes that will get some much needed support next year.

This has to be the worst Illinois team I’ve ever seen. We have regressed in every game this year.
How could any coach think a QB who couldn’t play at Nebraska, couldn’t start on a JC team and couldn’t start at VT play in the Big10?
This is a joke!

Those blue bloods don’t want him playing QB and he will do that at Illinois.

I wouldn't call the scrimmage against wesleyan a silver lining. The bball team is predicted to finish 13th in the B1G
I dunno, at least it's a new team so maybe they won't suck as bad. And if they do, the gym has way fewer seats than the stadium, so fewer people will be watching.
