MSU is playing just as many reserves as we are. This is not proper justification for this performance.
I really don't get this line of thinking. Our three consecutive victories were built on a very fragile base. Given where we have been, there is no reason to think our backups can step right in. I imagine MSU has out recruited us for 8 consecutive years. Yes, our backups need to play their asses off. However, I don't expect the same level of performance. I think it's unrealistic.

1st down - run for 3 yards
2nd down - get anywhere between -3 and 3 yards
3rd down - pass, get blitzed, incomplete pass/TO

Rinse and repeat.

Is this pre-Michigan football again?

No, we just had a lot go our way the last two weeks...Rutgers is gawd awful and Purdue couldn’t pass in the awful weather. I think we experienced a bit of fools gold.

They will blitz Peters every time until he can prove he can get the ball out of his hand. Until that time we'll have no run game

Granted, we look very bad today but we're still in the game.

Receivers need to help the QB out and come back to the ball on that. Bhebhe just backpedalled out of bounds for some reason

The line of thinking is driven by a far more intimate understanding of MSU as a program, as opposed to essentially how you imagine it (Your words). That’s not a knock either, for note. I don’t expect Illini fan to know or care about other randomly named Big Ten programs.

Are you really going to compare the depth of MSU's roster vs Illinois'? If you truly believe that, then ok...your opinion is as valid any anyone elses.

To me...to say we lost three, but they lost three, so it's a wash, is inaccurate, especially at those positions.

They haven’t lost 3, they’re down about 8 but your understanding of MSU is rudimentary and essentially means you’re guessing.

They tried to hand us one there. No push up front meant no one near the play.

Can we all take a deep breath? We've won our last 3 Big Ten games, we have 2 games to play after this one, one of which we need to win to get to a bowl game, which -- all of 2-3 weeks ago we assumed was a lost cause.

We came into this game as 14.5 point dogs. So far, we are playing as Vegas expected us to.

You are kidding, right?
Please tell me you are kidding.

1, we've thrown on first down 4 of 6 first downs....

2, the ONLY GAMES WE'VE WON THIS YEAR is when we went with and stuck with the run early and often, plan.

I can't be more upset with your post.
Huh?

Im pretty sure we’ve run on 4 of the 6 first downs with the following gains: -6, 0, 1, and 2.

I respect your knowledge and I have little doubt you know more about MSU than I. However, think about our program. We are just coming up from the pits.

I would agree with that.

I do want to make clear, however, that I made my first comment to you before Eifler. Losing 2 guys thins us out at LB.

Dang. A stop there could have changed this game.
