35-30 Illini at the barn 25 seconds to play in first half

I really hope this is Morgan's coming out game where he realizes he has the potential but just needs confidence that he has what it takes.

This is really working well on both ends of the floor, playing Morgan with Finke. Good adjustment by Groce tonight.

The best adjustment of the night was taking Austin and Tate out

I'm sure that's just how Groce drew it up

Kinda gimpy last possession there, but we're up by 5 going into halftime! I'll take it!

35-30 half time- Illini with a 21-6 run to close out the half

I've been saying for some time now that Mav is going to be that senior big that we love and other teams hate. He will be very experienced and tough on offense. May never be good on defense but oh well.
I really, really hope you're right. Sometime between now and then, he has to have his coming-out game. Now's as good a night as any!

I'm curious where Jamar Smith ranks on that list too. JCL reminds me of Jamar--the Microwave!

(off-court issues aside)

Jamar is not top 10 for a season or his career, but is #3 for freshman w/66. JCL @ 42

Still whacks me out that from X to To$U to OHIO to Illinois JG stays with the mantra of not starting the offense till 7 seconds left in the half/end of game.Kind of works if you got a pG that can score. May be smarter to sub out or put the ball in Nunn's hands. At least JT could make a lay up if they help off. With JT initiating everyone stays home and dares him to shoot.

Not sure why, but I'm laughing about us taking a nice lead at halftime. We are a team that plays zone D, and it's working against a really bad looking Gopher team tonight.

I just remember always feeling like the shot was going in when Jamar shot it as a freshman. Same feeling I get with JCL and Finke.

He's doing good in zone so far and against less quick bigs.

I'm not sure what Kendrick's deal is tonight, but I liked the effort from Hill, JCL, and Mav in the last 10 minutes of the first half. Refreshing to play a team that's even worse inside than us.

Was that the first dunk of Mav's career at Illinois?

There have been so many times where Tate has the ball with time winding down and we end up with a crappy shot. I think groce should have put Khalid in for that last possession.
