Screen call is just an awful high-risk, low-reward play call. I hate it.

You only call it with an aggressive defense. Otherwise you speed up a slow defense

Play looks a lot better if Ford doesn't get to his spot late leaving the guy he was supposed to block wide open to tackle Beatty.

True but when has Ford executed on that play, he has missed that block before

They're selling out against the run at the moment. They're forcing us to go to the air. If we can keep them honest, we can get the run game going, too

Nebraska is selling out to stop the run. Keep running plays to the tight end and crossing routes to the WR and it'll open things up

Why do we run a stop to the short side of the field? We aren't the only team that does this, I've noticed in other college teams and high school as well. Seems like the majority of the time the sweep goes to the short side of the field. Is there a reason for it?

Why do we run a stop to the short side of the field? We aren't the only team that does this, I've noticed in other college teams and high school as well. Seems like the majority of the time the sweep goes to the short side of the field. Is there a reason for it?

I'm guessing because it's easier to set an edge. Less distance should mean it's easier to get your guys in place to block and pick up the first down
