I mean, it's entirely possible that this is the toughest D we've faced in BB's tenure. We hung in for 90% of the game (so far). I ain't mad.

untimely penalty by the oline as we had the fist down..........................then Luke's worst pass decision of the year.......then a dumb !!! penalty by psu .......comedy of errors by both teams..

Priestly's penalty killed us the most at the time.

yep, we had to play a clean game to have a chance and havent had it tonight.

I usually get super upset when we lose, but honestly even with the mistakes this game hasn't bothered me. we're legit, and we should be able to hang with everyone else. we play accepting Oregon which will be super tough

On the one hand, it is infuriating that we've been this close and can't bridge the gap. On the other, inarguably we are a good team and we are giving PSU all they can handle. No way we should drop out of the rankings and we absolutely have the ability to win 8 games this year.

Agreed. As tough as this game is to watch sometimes, we have been only one score away the entire game against the #8 team. Nobody expected us to play this well tbh.

I haven’t seen an Illinois team that wants to lose as much as this team tonight does. If we get back to the mentality of the first four games during our next two games, we’ll be alright still. We all knew this would be our toughest test, and we’re only down 7 with less than 6 minutes left (albeit in a bad position).

Eh, no need for the hyperbole. For as much as I've tried to forget those Beckman and Lovie years were full of games where we tried hard to lose (and did)

Absolutely correct. Luke kinda went on auto-pilot there, but coulda stole the 1st down another way.

It's so ingrained to go deep on a free play, I don't blame him.

PSU isn't very good. They have more dudes than us BY FAR, but we've been able to stay in the game. If we ever get DUDES we will be able to block and stop the run.
