Brian B. on the radio call " Harmon with the fastest 14 point explosion you will ever see ".................

I think we all need to try and understand from a team situation what it means to the rest of the players what removing the Alpha Male from the team will do to the team concept......This year is the most cohesion I can remember for an Illini squad in recent memory........

they will figure it out and so will the coaching staff........I don't want to wade in again about the TSJ situation as I think it is a BOGUS case ......I'll leave it at that........

2nd half............feed Dainja and set screens for JH...........................

Fdu quickness impacting domask (really all of our bell handlers)
Similar issues he had against Tennessee, not saying FDU is anything similar but likely will remain a problem for him from the trend

How do Amani and DGL bring their games up when they haven't been played? That is a strange take given they are thrown in with CH who has recently been great, but always gotten a ton of tic.
Let me assure you that, in spite of the foolish and famous remark by Iverson, practice is far more important than playing...and every coach knows that. There is a reason teams practice for 20 hours a week and play 2-4. And the great players, especially shooters, who are driven to be the best, spend twice that practicing on their own. Ask Rick Mount, Pete Maravich (I know, he is dead), Steve Alford, JJ Reddick, or Steph Curry.

I was a witness to a classmate of mine who had a dream to become an All-American basketball player. He was physically gifted, but spent countless hours on his own during the summer, fall, and winter on the local playgrounds and in gyms, playing when he had company, or just shooting in every weather condition imaginable. I saw him practicing virtually every day. He did not make the All-American team, no Mickey D, but he was a consensus All-State selection in Illinois and was awarded Honorable Mention as a high school AA, a team that included Rick Mount and Kareem.

But, he did not play college hoops. The kid watched Clyde Frazier play when he was only a freshman in high school and decided, at 5'10" and 135 lbs., he would never be able to guard Clyde. But then nobody on the planet could. He decided he would have a better chance to beat Arnie on the golf course and pursued a college golf career.

As a college frosh, he told me he wanted to win his conference and NCAA title by the time he was a sr., and we all knew he had no reason or accomplishment to indicate that was possible. But he worked harder than most anyone in the country and under difficult conditions at times, with virtually no one to help him. But, as it turned out, he was not good enough. However, in his senior year at what is now a power 5 school, he won his conference title, a conference that produced more All-America honorees during his eligible years than any other. Yet, he was not good enough to win the NCAA....but he finished second....twice...awarded All-America honors twice.

The point is, those accomplishments, a pipe dream when formed as goals, were achieved purely because of the thousands of hours he spent practicing, and the confidence slowly grew through competition. He simply outworked the competition through his willingness to practice, at any time allowed, and in any condition. Could he have done that without the thousands of hours of practice? I asked him once, and his answer was "no chance" . Some are blessed with tremendous physical skills, but some just develop them through will and practice. And most athletes at the level the Illini compete and want to compete know that.

Not worth starting a 12/29 games thread but I highly recommend going to check out the Southland Conference Twitter account right now. They are having a field day at Michigans expense
