seriously stupid, what difference does 20 minutes make? And as pointed out by Dan on twitter, why could this not be worked out last night?

Yeah, why not preemptively push it 15 minutes, and if it actually tips 20 minutes after, nobody is going to make a peep about those additional 5 minutes.

This really sucks for Michigan. I'm glad if it benefits us, but I feel bad for the UM players to have to deal with all this crap leading up to an important game.

What a strange situation with all that has happened to Michigan, I could see anything happening today. I hope if we win that the win it isn't discounted

They're gonna come out all inspired and playing their hearts out and we're gonna get rolled.

I hope I am wrong, but when you consider Groce v. Beilein, the run Michigan has been on since we beat them the first time, the fact that our backs are against the wall and we just lost to Rutgers, and now all this? I just don't see it ending well for us.

If I've learned anything from following sports my whole life, it is that these things actually rarely impact the game all that much. Sometimes it can actually impact the other team more than the team experiencing the weird stuff.

The mental impacts of these things (and how that translates to play) for both teams is really tough to predict.

It really is a pretty raw deal for them. They dodged mortal peril yesterday and now have to play an important ball game on very short travel time and without their game unis. I'd be pretty upset for our guys if they were in the same situation.

With that said, I told my Iowa friend that there is still a good chance that we are somehow going to be the team that comes out flat-footed. This series of events could either knock Michigan off-kilter or get them hyper focused and ready to overcome adversity.

Coaching aside, it seems more likely that Michigan will be tired and stressed. Now, Beilein may have them focused, but fatigue and stress can't be erased.

My guess is this hurts Michigan today.

There's an entirely different question, which is "will Illinois be ready and sharp?"

Yes, but I can tell you that these kind of things, annoying but not tragic, just fuels the fire. The Michigan players are gonna go off. They will love this game.

That is actually my biggest fear. You know the selection folks are tuned into all this stuff and have been known to make weird decisions based on weird things. Perception is a big deal for bubble teams, and this kind of crap just makes things even more wacky.

This is a pretty extreme situation. But you're right, it's really hard to predict how people will respond, and whether or not Illinois will also be affected.

Looking forward to next weekend though!

Hard to objectively view this as a "positive" for Michigan. That being said, I'm not expecting to win but am slightly more optimistic.

Yeah, I'm not feeling good about this. We're easily going to look like the white-collar team and get the doors blown off.
