I don't know what's more white-collar than having issues with your private jet.

I hope their game jerseys are soaked in jet fuel and lavatory blue juice.

I didn't realize it was private.

Maybe it wasn't, I thought it was but the point is I was trying to make a cheap joke about the white-collar thing.

It wasn't very funny. But the white collar trope still cracks me up b/c it's so dumb.

Illinois playing Michigan wearing Illinois jerseys. That visual idea amuses me.

Me too. Maybe we could trick the committee into thinking we won no matter what that way

The plane is operated by a company called Ameristar. Just a charter company. My airline used to fly BIG10 teams around as charter flights for several years. I never had the pleasure of flying our beloved anywhere.
Several of our pilots are UI Aviation alums and had the pleasure of operating those flights with our team. Literally, Flying Illini!:alma-mater:

What a strange situation with all that has happened to Michigan, I could see anything happening today. I hope if we win that the win it isn't discounted

These are 18-22 year old kids. I don't consider myself old at 39, but I'm definitely more in tuned with my mortality than I was at 20 and I definitely can't bounce back like I did when I was 20.

Kids of this age and talent can walk off of a plane and play a competitive game right there on the tarmac. So, waking up and getting to the stadium at 9:30AM, after having a WTF moment 24 hours prior.....isn't going to affect them like it would some of us older folks, who need our 8-10 hours of shut eye, who don't get a chance to feel the rush of playing in front of 15,000 to 20,000 people....doing what we love to do.

On top of that, many of these kids have played through a LOT tougher circumstances than this.

So....if we think they are going to come into this game hungover....we're going to get spanked. If we do happen to win, there is no way the selection committee will downplay it UNLESS Michigan is SO god awful bad that there is some reason to connect the dots that their performance could be attributed to their travel difficulties. Even at that, they'd be taking credit away from Illinois, which short of the Michigan players falling asleep on the bench, you couldn't do.

We'll see what happens, but don't expect any gifts.

Who said anything about being objective? I'm looking at it from the perspective of an Illini basketball fan who has seen so much go wrong that I can only expect that something else will.

I was optimistic going into the Rutgers game. I thought they turned the corner. After watching that meltdown, it draws me back to the repeated chances of having significant wins at home, just to come up with double digit losses. It's impossible to be optimistic. Hopeful, maybe, but in no way optimistic.

It's going to require a full 40 minutes of relatively turnover free basketball, they're going to have to be shooting the three well, Hill is going to have to have a high level game and probably most importantly, they're going to have to be able to defend the three point line.

If they don't go 4 for 4 there....they probably lose by 10. They don't have the talent and depth to have an off night and beat a good team. They've proven that over and over again this year.

Not expecting much today. After the let down at Rutgers, I see a typical Groce team that will go out there and get destroyed....Hope I'm wrong.

I'm going against the chicken littles - I think the Illini will come out strong and take this game.

If it was up to most people in this thread it sounds like we should be the ones forfeiting so we don't lose by 20. We might be the only fan forum with a near consensus that not only will we lose but we're going to get embarrassed in a 9v8 seeding matchup. Have a little faith fellas.

Are we going to wear our warm ups? We don't seem to have uniforms on 12 minutes to tip...

My sources have told me this game is actually going to be shirts vs skins

IMO, the current circumstances surrounding this game provide Illinois with an enormous advantage. I expect a team that survived a plane accident/crash hours ago who just arrived 90 minutes before an early tip will play quite poorly. Illini need to take advantage.

I think it's impossible to predict the impact of what happened. Wouldn't surprise me if Michigan played really well regardless.

I hope that means we're skins. That way we can show off the results of Fletcher's regimen!

the whole atmosphere is strange to this game, hopefully once they tip it will be normal. I expect us to play well
