I heard both Robert and Loren Tate predict that Whitman would have to keep Lovie another year, even if we finish 1-8 or 0-9 this season. (I seriously don't see us beating Rutgers.)

I'm going to differ with them. I think Whitman will find a way to gain University and alumni support for a "change". (After today's results --- James Franklin or Jim Harbaugh perhaps?)

I feel so bad for the players that came to Illinois. The hype was real and the staff has failed them. I feel awful for Luke Ford who has barely been targeted. This is embarrassing and will have an effect on recruiting for some time to come. I can’t watch this stuff anymore.

I don’t know if this would help but maybe we could try hiring a position coach who actually has prior experience at a power-5 program.

I’m out. Anyone left to read this is a true fan cause this was unwatchable... again.

If Lovie Smith has any integrity, he should step down himself.

I was just looking up his buyout before you posted this. Looks like his buyout is $2 million this year and $1 million if we do it next year. Long term, it seems worth the extra million to get things moving in the right direction, though I know that money is tight around the world right now.

Why are they trying to make Taylor a pocket passer? His success throwing last week was when he was moving around.
Because Smith is a lousy OC. I don’t get this offense. JW needs to make a change top to bottom. Lovie’s D has been scouted and teams know how to attack it. Minnesota is throwing under the coverage like clockwork. Now we get a late hit. Undisciplined and just not smart. I just don’t understand. Its time for major changes

I agree, the staff has taken a talented team and made them untalented. I can understand if this team was young, but its not. Lovie just needs to step down. He should realize that his system does not work.

Fire Lovie. Week after week we are unprepared. This team isn't coached at all and is not prepared at all. This team is slow and doesn't know how execute plays and that's all on the coaching staff. Enough is enough.

Throw the brinks truck at Luke Fickell

once again this team is unprepared in the first half - lets see if they have any fight for the 2nd.

If true, that's a pittance. And if I recall correctly, I believe Texas, Michigan and Ohio State alumni are well known for assisting in $20M, $25M and $30M buy-outs to support coaching changes.

If Josh reaches out, I'll contribute. (BTW, that Robert/Loren discussion was very discouraging with respect to our football future.)

Rod Smith. That delay of game is unacceptable. It shouldn't take 30 seconds to bring a play in

I couldn't agree more. He and Whitman should come to an agreement to part ways.
