Now we really get a chance to see the difference between Groce and Underwood. Let's see what kind of adjustments are made for the second half. NCC is simply outplaying us at this point.

Holy hell, that was one of the worst 7-8 minute stretches of basketball I've seen in years. It reminded me of the very worse parts of John Groce basketball.
In a way, I'm glad we're going into half down a point rather than up 1 or 2. That should serve as a bit of extra motivation for these guys to take this game seriously. I have a feeling that BU is going to unload, however.
We aren't as good as the Southern game showed, and we're not as bad as this game is showing. But we have some serious holes in our game that I'm afraid are going to be exposed in a bad way in the next few weeks.

They lost by 10 to UIC, by 13 to Evansville, and by 17 to UT-Martin. They are not a very good basketball team.

I think our guys have the Black Friday Blues. Too many mashed potatoes yesterday. UNCC is outhustling UI. When they finally stopped making silly mistakes they started taking over the game. They are tough.

UNCC may not be that good, but we are playing very flat, and that's all a mediocre team needs playing a young team. Not that our upperclassmen are lighting it up. Although, I think if Jordan had not left with three fouls, things might be a bit different. Aaron seems to be quietly becoming the barometer of this team.

Not sure why there so disinterested? Probably because they're playing North Carolina Central in front of 500 people.
When you come out playing like you can just roll the ball out and win, even against a cupcake like this....the effort, or lack thereof, is evident.
Not running offense, settling for threes, getting out shot at the line....
No...NCC is not a tough team. They aren't a mediocre team. They are a low major who is out working our guys and we don't have enough talent to play lazily and win handily.

Sure, they're playing hard. But you called them a "tough ball club". Fact is, they're a 2-4 team with double-digit losses to other bad teams.
Don't want to take anything away from their effort. But crappy teams try hard all the time. Good teams still manage to beat them like a drum. Hopefully we show interest and come out ready to play in the second half.

My prediction is we will turn it around and win by 12 to 15. Not stellar, but enough. Then the guys will wear out a couple of belts on the treadmill.

We are not good enough to just show up and walk all over random teams like NC-Central. Perhaps Duke can show up and put a team like this away with minimal effort, but not us.
Settling for 3s and the lazy passes are the types of things that indicate that the team just isn't really ready for this game. I think BU will fix that.
