I'd like Purdue to go back to the "forget we have a startling size advantage" strategy they used against us earlier this season.
Going to be a long row to hoe in the second half.
It's simple. Realistically they are too big for us underneath. The only chance Illinois has in a game like this is either for Purdue to forget their big or for Illinois to be about +15 from the 3 point line. Well Purdue has remembered they are big and Illinois is -12 at the 3 pt line.
Despite the score, I'm not upset at all and I'm sure I'm not alone. Just happy that Illinois was able to get this far. Hope for an upset in the 2nd half but this is more basketball than I was expecting. I'm already in 2016-17 mode, I guess.
Let's be honest we never should have beat Purdue in game 1. We can thank Painter for letting us dictate that game and let his guys settle for long shots the entire game. Tip your cap to Painter, he figured it out and adjusted.
felt like we only scored 5 points in the last 10 minutes.....Wait....
This game was always going to be a tall order.
Keep in mind, it's the only game Groce has coached where his team shot better than 50%....
