SEMO is tired. Settling for jump shots.

65-43 with 8:00 to go.

Have had some really crisp ball movement this half. The mark of an experienced team.

I think he gets performance nerves. His form looks bad in-game but in practice and drills it's fine.

It reminds me of a kid I knew in high school. He was all-conference, 3-year starter at SG. He went to EIU over some decent mid-major offers and everyone in our town thought he was going to light up small school competition. For whatever reason, though, when he stepped onto a college court he looked nervous and discombobulated. Couldn't shoot anymore, would dribble off his foot, etc. He ended up riding the bench for a couple of years and then quit the team. Dynamite shooter in high school, good size, decent athlete. I could never figure it out. Some kids just can't adjust. Still plenty of time for AJ.

How recently was this? Cuz I think I might know who you're talking about.

Definitely. In the past two seasons especially, there had been lots of iso offense. This year is markedly different, and that's a good thing.

Here are my overreacting first game observations:

Tracey - couple rusty turnovers, but with his deep shooting, he's adding offense at PG we haven't had since... McCamey?

Mav - looks FANTASTIC on offense. Defensively, not good considering the competition

Finke looks like an improved version of last year's Finke, which is great

Hill, JCL, and Thorne all looking really rusty in first half, but enough athleticism out of Thorne that I'm not worried about any of them

SEMO is fortunate to be as close as they are with a couple of lucky 3's, but also LOTS of open 3's. That's been a killer for us for years, and its worrisome tonight

No walk-ins getting key minutes!!!

Tate and Jordan --- not making a case for minutes

Overall, I feel good for game one.

Yep. You nailed that one man.

DJW jumped up to the rafters for that rebound. Shame he couldn't finish.

He's going to be good.

68-48, Illinois.

This is why you want to give JCL the green light at all times.

Is there any chance this is happening? We can't right? He needs minutes to be the guy next year.

Even without TJL, the rotation is about 64 players deep. Add Lemon and Kipper and we are a hundred deep. We really need TJL' to get the minutes for next year, but we may not have any minutes to spare this year.

That was a real pretty pass by DJW... to Tate attempting a 3.

Has anyone ever earned a nickname via autocorrect before? Leron has been Lemon'd multiple times today.

Tracy has another year, right??

If TJL gets his defense going he should replace Tate. I love how Tate pushes the ball and his fluidity but he just can't hit a jumper to save his life.
