Team doesn’t look prepared at all. Altmeyer is the only one that looks good out there. He’s going to be a good one for us. Lunney with typical Lunney play calls especially that one on 4th down. He needs to open it up downfield but is reluctant to call those plays. If we have a bad year, I hope we fire him and go after someone that can call plays down the field. Secondary doesn’t look too bad, just need more playing time. The Dline is what’s hurting us big time. No pressure up front.

The thing that has really stood out is that we are not getting a good jump off the ball whatsoever on both sides of the line. On offense, it looks like Kreutz might be snapping a little early? On defense, we've been pretty passive and vanilla with our calls for our front 7. Looks like we're playing scared of getting burned over the top, but not getting any pressure is getting us shredded. Gotta mix some things up this 2nd half if we want to win and get on the same page.

Those complaining about listening to Matt Millen. There's an app called The Varsity Network that allows you to sync the TV with the Illini Radio Network. It's a no brainer

9 penalties
Terrible run blocking
Terrible pass rush
9 penalties
3rd and 27. Literally the one time you shouldn't blitz we blitz and give them a 24 yd gain and a free FG.
9 penalties
Terrible run defense

Refs suck? Sure. It's the Big Ten. What do you expect.
But I did not expect a poorly prepared team.
Lunney and Henry not putting their squads in a position to succeed.

Example: Lunney not utilizing an effective Altmeyer on critical short yardage situations is absurd.
I thought all of football figured out the QB sneak is a pretty tough to stop 4 and less than a yard call. Altmeyer looks like he is athletic enough to convert but isn't getting the chance.

Only down 5. Feels like much more.

The penalties and obvious confusion is concerning, and Lunney’s 3rd and 4th down play calls on that last drive were based on hope, not reality or creativity.

Here’s to a 2nd half in which we score at least 6 more points than they do,

I was actually impressed with the secondary u til this last TD. They crumbled with the pressure was on. They lost that swagger and composure we saw earlier.

Several times I've seen the Defense looking to the sideline, wondering what to do, right up to the moment of snap by Toledo... Really poorly prepared...

Agreed though not sure how much they trust Kreutz on that yet. His snap timing has looked slightly wonky thus far in my opinion. Really, if you can't pick up 1 rush yd with a power back against a team who struggled against the run last year, yet they have no problem doing it to you, that's a personnel issue

If the front defensive front 7 don't get their heads out of their rear ends, this is likely just another 3-8 team.
And 9 penalties for 90 yards? That makes a big statement.

I do think our D now realizes that containing the edge isn't gonna be easy. Let's see what they can do now that they realize that.
Don't know what say about the o line.

We have enough talent on the WR corps to air it out but he always settles for the conservative play. We have a QB that can throw darts. Utilize it!

Zero pash rush, no line penetration on run, no QB spy on a running QB, no push by O-line, terrible play calling, tons of penalties, D coordinator and O coordinator calls to be fired by fans after the first half of the first game… football season is back. 🤦🏻
