The talent and defense is there. We just lack consistent ball handling and scoring. Need to value every possession and we do not do that right now. If Coleman is going to hesitate every time he gets the ball in a position to shoot, he's not doing us much good on offense hanging out at the three point line. I think the staff will get it figured out, we have enough talent to be scary good by Feb/March.
& ORsThey’re shooting just 38%, but have 16 more attempts than us.
Hmmm… wonder why that is.

This was always going to be a tough one, but we had a great opportunity there when our defense had UCLA on the ropes and they couldn't buy a basket. Gotta recapture that defense and stop turning it over.
Simple story. Imagine if Tyger Campbell was not on UCLA and McDonald's All American Amari Bailey was their starting PG. We'd be up by 10.

Melendez, Dainja, TSJ, Mayer, Epps. These need to be the guys to get the most minutes in the second half.
Not so much. They have 5, but 4 were on one possession on which they did not score.
If the illini are going to keep letting Jaquez get a match up against the point guard then Ty should play some point.
It looks to me like he just hasn't figured out how to fit in with this team. Last year, he brought athleticism to a team of mostly role players. This year, everyone on the floor is athletic, but guys still haven't quite found their roles.
I don't think this game is very surprising thus far aside from our defense has been a lot better than I anticipated. We're a very young team that hasn't put all that much time into our half court offense. Turnovers and bad offensive positions are to be expected at this point in the season. Goal is to be ready by B10 play. It's still a single-digit game so we've got a chance. UCLA's defense has been very solid as well. Just have to come back out with energy, play hard defense, and be better with the ball.
But are we still running the switching defense?
The only individual player who I have a problem with right now is Hwkins. And I'm a Hawkins fan.
