If you have an Athletic subscription, Dana O’Neill has a very good profile on Matt Painter.
I know the rivalry is there with Purdue, but it’s pretty hard not to like and respect Matt Painter. He seems to be the anti-Danny in terms of humility and treating people well.
Uconn 2011 run was similar. Five wins in five days for conference tournament championship ( with a buzzer beater against Pittsburgh) after losing 4 out of five to end the season. Followed by six straight in NCAA tournament to take the trophy home to Storrs,CT.This NC State run is very similar to the Valvano '84 team.
I took them to reach the Final Four. Just wish I’d bet more than $5 at 60-1! I did it before the tournament started, but after the ACC victory.Nothing wrong with being wrong. Nobody thought they'd get to this point. I thought Texas Tech would eliminate them in the Round of 32 and they certainly shocked Marquette to get to the Elite 8. I wasn't surprised with them beating Duke though

Wow, nice job on that. Small bet but you got some money out of itI took them to reach the Final Four. Just wish I’d bet more than $5 at 60-1! I did it before the tournament started, but after the ACC victory.
No but there is a very likable , big smile having , underdog who is putting up big numbers in both conference and NCAA tournaments. Let's see if he and his team can take down mighty Edey and the Boilermakers.Though I don't see a Kemba Walker on this roster.
Can't take anything away from them but it's kinda played out great for them. Getting Duke instead of Houston was huge for them and Marquette was running on fumes and absolutely atrocious from 3.I’ll admit I was dead wrong about NC State being able to continue their run. I’ll own it.
I think the Illini would have had a good chance at the final four if they were any other region.
OT but didn't see a game thread so wasn't sure where to post this -- so they are experimenting with timeouts at 17, 14, 11, 8 and 4 in NIT....I already feel like the game flow is so choppy with the TV timeouts as soon as a team starts to make a run. Now they are going to add another? Do we really need a TV timeout three minutes into the game?
Love the crowd they brought as well. Basketball always more fun to me in this kind of atmosphere. This ISU team is pure excitement and ruthless shot making. An absolute joy to watch.
Yeah, I like the idea of going for the win. But go to the rim there and see if you can get a kick out.And I totally jinxed them. Sorry Sycamores lol. The Hall goes on a 9-0 run to close the game. Horrible shot out of the final time out. What in the world.
Jamison Battle too.Looks like Buie and Tominaga are going to compete in the 3 point contest on ESPN.
