Insane run by NC State. Are they the first team to make a FF after having to win their conf tourney just to make the tourney? I know VCU made the FF as an 11 but I don’t think it was the same as NC State’s run.

Duke probably wins it all next year with Cooper Flagg there.

Also Nate Oats and Danny Hurley were each HS coaches which is pretty cool. Not many guys move up the ranks from HS to the FF

Bama vs. NC St would be freakin' hilarious.
no, it wouldn't. illini fans don't want uconn to win nor do they want purdue to get a championship if illinois doesn't have one. just read previous messages. nc state had to win their tournament just to get in, then beat 3 other teams to get to the duke game. so they must be doing something right. Burns could probably go up against either purdue or uconn's big centers. at least Burns plays fair.

UConn did it in 2011 I think.

Keatts was a HS coach as well.

UConn and Purdue stood above everyone else all season. Give me a 7' + behemoth to park under the basket please.
Edey size memes aside, that 7 footer has to have some skill and/or athleticism to go with the size and also requires the right complement of guards around them. It wasn't that long ago that we were the 1 seed with the dominant 7 footer and we lost in the second round. This is in no way a dig at Kofi in any way, just saying that it's not a guaranteed ticket.

Honestly, a 7-footer who has some stretch 4 skills should be salivating to be in the Illinois offensive system. I know he was hot and cold this year, but a player with Coleman Hawkins' skill set would be a great fit. I'd prefer a more versatile and athletic player who can spread the floor more as opposed to a true post player. Having a 7-footer protecting the rim sure does help, as we have seen when you can just park that player in front of the basket.
