Well, we sure as hell showed out and gave Indy folks and TV the better of the 2 Semi games.

Arizona is a no show.
Amazing how lopsided the shooting was in both games. Illinois and Arizona have two loaded offensive teams stocked with a handful or more of good shooters....and yet we saw both struggle to make any kind of shot.

I have always thought that games between two well-coached and highly motivated, tough, hard working teams were primarily decided by who was "hitting" on that particular night. Today pretty much reinforces that premise.

So Monday night we will see UConn play Cheatigan for the title. There is not likely any matchup I could care less about. One will likely be unable to put the ball in the hoop...unlike their performances tonight. I expect that will be UConn, but I cannot pull for either team to win. Well, by default I guess UConn would be more tolerable....by a smidge.

I've said it before, but not prioritizing MJ was a big mistake. Our offense is predicated on bigs shooting threes, and the twin ended up not being great. Morez would have been a great addition. Also, he is insanely good at free throws. Incredible growth.

Straight up belt to !!!. If Yaxel cant go it might be somewhat close, but if Michigan shoots 3s like they did tonight, UConn has zero chance of winning.

Dusty May winning the natty at Michigan and then leaving for Carolina the next day would be so Dusty May.
Dusty only left one team, FAU, for a higher profile job. I have a hunch if Dusty was considering going to Carolina that Michigan would not be playing so well. Now as far as Lloyd and "Zona are concerned .....

Michigan put Arizona in an unfamiliar situation. They looked shell-shocked being down by that much, that quickly.
I think my pie graph would be something like this:

40%-choked
40%-outmanned
20%-overrated

It’s a nice reminder that at times no one really knows anything about basketball. Coach K was SO convinced Arizona was the best team in this thing; for example.

Assist tonight:

Illinois 3; UCONN 14

Michigan 22; Arizona 5
one thing I didn't love was we went away from a heavy passing team around the perimeter to reliant on Keaton in pick in role or Keaton beating his man off the dribble. I think the peak damage was done when everyone was involved and we were zipping the ball all over.... but it's just hard to not give the ball to Keaton and let him work. the only issue is he got hammered and rarely got the call. we still hunted matchups and we're awesome on offense so no real complaint but seeing only 3 assists when we have plus passers at every position seems off

Part of getting assists is making the shots. The teams that did have more assists and the teams that didn’t don’t.

I felt like we went away from moving the ball around. I said this all year, we struggle against quick guards and UConn has some good guard play.

At least at the top the Big 12 did not measure up to the other elite programs. We kinda woodshedded Houston and Michigan whacked Zona. And Iowa State got it against Tennessee.
