That’s what happens when you don’t make shotsAssist tonight:
Illinois 3; UCONN 14
Michigan 22; Arizona 5
Better not to get beat by Huskies twice. So, presuming Michigan would win against either UConn or Illinois...
Better to lose last night to UConn or to a B1G foe?
I would take a shot at winning a national championship over losing in the semis any day.I’d rather have lost the way we did. I’d want no part of losing to Michigan in the final game.
Kind of disingenuous to leave out third place game results (I believe we won two). Those games still count in the record books.Got to work on this...
I'd much rather have it go down in the record books that we lost a close game vs UCONN versus a 96-68 drubbing vs Michigan. That's what UCONN is in for. We'll always be able to say "what if". The way they handled us in Champaign, then have preceded to make the tournament field look like grade school teams.....I'm good with how it ended up.Why would it be better to lose in the semi-final than to be national runner up?
Saw some UConn basketball bros yelling and barking at strangers as they confidently marched into HootersSaw an instagram of UCONN chads cussing out and flipping off Illini fans as they left th game.
I know who to hold my nose and root for now. I want UCONN smashed and May to go to UNC ripping the hearts out of scUM.
Yea, the ones sitting near me last night really suckedSaw some UConn basketball bros yelling and barking at strangers as they confidently marched into Hooters
So 40 old ladies walking around is your plan here?I don't want either of the SOB's to win , so ole pru is gonna organize a " No Champs March " today and I hope to get numbers like the No Kings march a while back......................................................................................................................./s........................
One reason to cheer for michigan is when the top of a conference does well, there is pressure on the other schools to catch up and compete. If the best of the big ten can't win a national title, then where is the pressure for for schools like ours to go after one.
I'll word it a little different with an example.
Tonight's results have absolutely no impact on our longterm outlook. Seeing the gap between us and Michigan (and Duke/Arizona for that matter) this year does show we have room to grow, but we do not need them to win a natty for us to feel upward pressure (being 4 games behind them in conference title race is more of a motivator).I'll word it a little different with an example.
When it became clear that bama was running away with the sec, other already very successful programs fired their very good coaches...with pretty recent national championships.....to aim higher. Thats what was required of them to compete. Without that pressure, everyone would have stayed where they were thinking all was good.
The bar for competing for a national championship is much higher than moderate occasional success, which is where we are now. If you are let say northwestern, you want the top of the conference static and struggling to be more attainable. A school like illinois aiming for their first national championship will benefit from that upward pressure of conference success.
We've been a top 20 KenPom team 5 of the last 6 years. Our success is greater than moderate and more than occasional. The bar for competing for a national championship is much higher than moderate occasional success, which is where we are now.
