Has the team been practicing? Thought I remember a quote from BB…well practice until they tell us not to.

U of I had a good Covid testing program also. Prevent outbreaks for next 1.5 weeks

While it’s fun to think about, it would be tough to field a very good team. Anyone looking at the draft has probably been working out but would they play? The younger guys got some practices in, but the seniors haven’t practiced since northwestern right?

I mean I’m all for it, but seems like really tough thing to pull off now and look competent and not get anyone hurt.
No. The word is “awesome”! We would get so much publicity, would be huge underdogs, would get our !!! kicked, and everyone would say how great it was that the Illini stepped up. Our players would be like, “Holy crap, I gotta go back to CU. Ima be in the fricking Gator Bowl on Famous Television Network!”

Man this is exciting. If it happens, I hope they can get a waiver to let Kerby, Khalan, and any others who declared or hired an agent to play!! I think at NU game strength we could give Wake a run!!

I love that BB is going for it. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Let's goooooo!
Driving to pick my son up from college this past weekend, I was remembering making the same drive last December when the hiring was announced. I wasn't thrilled and the best spin I could put on it, was, "Well, maybe he's one of those guys you like when he's with YOUR team." We're a ways from knowing if we'll get the consistent on-field success that we all crave, but in the other areas, he's really won me over. This Gator Bowl thing probably won't amount to anything, but having him jump on this story, ready to go, putting a little fun in what would be an offseason day is the kind of no-risk, no-cost energy that this program lacked.

The Gator Bowl needs to make a decision quick so if we are the team, we need to get the players back and practicing. We will be very rusty since its been a month since we have played.

I thought you were allowed a certain amount of practice, game is Dec 31st. I'm all in!
You’re allowed 10 practices, but how many could we legitimately get in? 3-4 at the absolute most I would think if everyone gets back on the 26th. Maybe another day or 2 if they cancel Christmas. Hopefully the guys have been in full conditioning mode with Tank since they shut down.

I agree we absolutely go if we have the chance.
