Based on what you saw in the Gold Cup, is there anyone on the U.S. team (aside from those that were called up for the knockout round) that you think deserves a shot with the main roster in the upcoming Hex matches or perhaps in Russia next summer?

That Dempsey guy is pretty good, we should keep him around. :D

I liked Acosta, Nagbe, Dwyer, and Morris. I am more concerned about the back line. Can we please be done with the Zusi in back experiment. He was getting beaten like a dead horse...

Rough draw for Spurs and Chelsea. Ouch for Celtic. Liverpool, City and United look favorites to top their groups

I just stumbled upon World Soccer Rankings from 538.com so many pardons if this old news to most. I was trying to get a feel for MLS and these rankings have MLS not quite up to Championship level quality. I didn't expect MLS to be that far behind on the world stage.

The MLS is in a tough spot right now, because of how accessible European soccer is. When I was a kid it was really difficult to watch European soccer, so I watched MLS and loved it and went to many Chicago Fire games. Now I can't watch MLS...it's like torture to me because the level of play is so much lower.

Our community is engaged in the current MLS expansion fandango and I was thinking that a local team could be an entree to following the league. I am less enthusiastic about that prospect today, unfortunately. I'll substitute following RB Leipzig for now.

On a side note, our very popular NPSL team, a tier 4 league in US per wiki, had their semi final game both sold out and streamed live (they lost on penalties). They average 5500+ attendance in their 7000 capacity venue and are a bit of a local phenomenon. This may bode well for the MLS fandom experience should a franchise come to pass, so hope remains. Thanks for the insight.

The recent results in road qualifiers have not been great. The US has taken 2 points out of 9 in the hex and 4 out of 9 in the previous round with the only win vs st Vincent & the grenadines. They drew 0-0 last round in T&T and lost 2-0 to Guatemala. Panama is never an easy 3 points. If they can't get 4 points from those 3 games then they don't belong in the World Cup anyways.
