Boy 4 class ball sure gave the small towns a shot at a title this year. Those one horse towns of Chicago and Peoria winning 1A and 2A. They had the best thing going with the 2 class system and flushed it so the small towns could win trophies. Not so much.

Eastland looked like a team that had never had someone defend them as tough as Chicago Marshall did. Goreville likely hadn't faced a team with that kind of speed in their part of the state unless they were facing someone like Cairo, Massac County, or Mounds Meridian. And let's not forget that Goreville wins 1A if they don't allow Marshall to go on a 21-3 run to end that game.

Manual was a team with active hands on defense throughout the tournament. If Unity cuts down on their turnovers by at least half, they face QND for the 2A title. QND was a very good team but they had issues with foul trouble against Manual.

OK, that was another great IHSA tournament on a Hallowed Floor in a Basketball State.

It’s been over for a few hours now. Alright, that’s enough time off. Time for the new Season to start!

Attention all of you Vermillion Valley Conference sports fans and in particular the Hoopeston Cornjerkers, come up to Duffy in Lombard week 1 and enjoy some Friday night lights. Insane this game is scheduled, but Montini couldn't find anyone for week 1 and Hoopeston signed up. Enjoy some fireworks, live horses, and music. Kudos to Hoopeston and absolutely zero shade, but this is worse than an week 10 SEC/non-con matchup.
